I'm having so much fun finking cousin's. What I'm trying to do is get pictures and information on all the new cousins, keep in a note book and when the time comes add the new found cousins to the Paxton book, it go's back to the 1200's and the large up date would be so great, ( don't you think so ). Thanks again for your information. My best regards Jean Paxton ( Hughes )

    3. There has been much discussion of the various Paxton resources lately. For the newcomers out there, Frank Paxton was working on an updated version of the McClung book (1903) on the Paxtons. Frank was adding other lines as well. Unfortunately Frank passed away unexpectedly a couple of years ago just as the book was getting ready to be published. A number of problems led the family to switch publishers and Frank's wife was doing the final editing, but that was the last I heard (about a year ago). My attempts to contact the publisher have failed. My last communication was with Frank's daughter-in-law who was supposed to forward my letter to Frank's wife. I have not gotten any feedback, so I do not know the status of the book. If anyone else out there has updated information, please let us know! Wanda

Frank Paxton was introduced to me by mail by a ditant cousin in St.Louis. He was descended from John Paxton and Mary Blair as well, though I am not sure exactly how. We wrote infrequently and he knew I wanted his book. It is fantastic to hear you have a genealogy dating to the 13th century. Where are you? Is there any possibility that I may see your book and perhaps copy it? We live in Tidewater Va. annd there are still cousins up in the valley and in the old home. I'm so happy to have heard from you . please write again. Sincerely, Jeanne

    1. [PAXTON-L] Paxton references
    2. Paxton Family References The following is taken from Diane Smith's Genealogy Page http://www.halcyon.com/dianes/ancestor.html Several primary sources were used in the compilation of information about the Paxton Family lineage as displayed. 1.Gary Harvey's Paxton's Lineage is a good site with several helpful links. For example, excerpts from "We Are One" and the Paxton Genealogy Bulletin Board. 2.Geographic Names Information System Online Data Base Query Form is an invaluable resource for locating cities, towns, etc. which do not exist on toady's maps. The latitude and longitude for Renrock, Ohio, for example, are known from older maps. These data then access the Tiger Mapping System of the U.S. Census Bureau which does not "recognize" Renrock, for example. 3.Leedy, Lillian Organ and Leedy, Walton O., 1972, The Samuel J. Paxton Family History, Mansfield, Ohio. [A paper bound phamplet distributed to family members and others. Lillian Leedy was the daughter of Lulu Lottie Paxton, oldest child of James Harvey Paxton, who was the second child of Samuel J. Paxton.] 4.Paxton, William McClung, 1903, The Paxtons : We Are One, Landmark Print, PlatteCity, Mo. [As a child I recall my uncle Louie telling me that "we are related to Sam Houston". William Paxton's book remains a tremendous resource. Excerpts from We Are One may prove helpful if you cannot locate the original source.] 5.Thorla, A. Zaile,1977,Some Glimpses Of Old Renrock, Zanesville, Ohio. [A paper bound "Compilation of Writings and Photographs Concerned with the Pioneer Community of Renrock, Ohio. Written and Collected by a Group of Renrock Descendents". A. Zaile Thorla was the daughter of Silas Thorla. Silas was the oldest man (born in 1859) I ever met as a child. I can recall his stories about watching soldiers come home from the Civil War. Many of the materials in this collection were written by Silas and had been previously published by local newspapers.] 6.Wanda Rabb maintains the Paxton Family Mailing List to which you may wish subscribe. 7.Diane Smith's Descendants of Nathaniel Paxton of Pennsylvania and Other Paxton Families and helpful links to other Paxton researchers. I am looking for any material which will add to or correct the information in these pages. In particular, I am interested in obtaining addition photographs (especially pre Samuel J. Paxton) that may be available. In such research there are always questions. Those that occur to me include: Why did Samuel Paxton decide to relocate in McConnelsville, Ohio? What was Samuel J. Paxton's middle name? [James or John or Jessie?] Did the familes of Samuel Paxton (son of James Paxton of Ireland) and John Paxton (either the son of James or Hugh Paxton) "interact" in Lancaster County, PA.? This list could go on and on and most questions will probably never be answered .... but that is part of the fun. I do hope someone can make some use of the above information. Wayne Walker....still looking for my Hugh Paxton that married Julian Moore. They were married in Rockbridge County, Va. 1798 Hugh died 1838.
