    1. [PAXTON-L] John Paxson/Paxton's wife Mary Simcock
    2. It's been a while since posting my line, and there is an error with the date(s) of my 4x-gr-grandmother Mary Simcock who married John Paxson. Somehow several years ago, I had gotten the date of her born in 1765 and death in 1870. But I also have her married in 1772 when she would have been only seven years old. I am related thru their daughter Mary who married William Pickrell. My grandfather used to mention about one of his grandmothers living to be 105 years old. Looking for corrections. Thanks, Phil Rutledge [email protected] (proud Rootsweb supporter) ~~~ Descendants of Reuben Paxson 1 Reuben Paxson b: December 6, 1705 Bucks Co., PA d: SC +Alice Simcock b: March 10, 1707/08 PA ? m: April 30, 1731 Philadelphia, PA d: Aft 1761 2 John Paxson b: July 12, 1744 Kingwood, New Jersey d: Abt 1820 Logan Co., Ohio +Mary Simcock b: 1765 m: September 24, 1772?? 3. This article is from "Western PA Genealogical Soc. Quarterly, August 1984, volume 11 number 1 pg. 76 quote. The enclosed newspaper article came from "The Daily News Standard" of Uniontown, PA. the date is Thursday, July 19, 1900. Samuel Paxton was my great grandfather. This obituary has been in the family for years and was one of the things getting me started in genealogy. Samuel Paxton was born in Garrett Co., Maryland, an offshoot of Allegheny Co. (PA). He lived all his live in the Cumberland area, West Virginia too. why he went to Uniontown (PA) appears to be a 'natural.' His daughter lived there and John Paxton, his grandfather lived in Fayette Co. (PA) from about 1790 to 1816. He was in the rev. War. Born in York co. PA. he fought in Bedford Co. (PA) as a private. "Deaths of the day". Samuel Paxton died July 18, 1900, at 12:30 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs.. Daniel Collins, 131 east Main Street, Uniontown, PA., of old age. He was born in Garrett Co., MD. Nov. 12, 1820, and was therefore in his 80th year. For many years he was a wagoneer on the old pike making his first trips from Cumberland to Brownsville 53 years ago. In Uniontown his stopping place was always at Natty Brownfield's. He loved to talk over his old pike days and to recall the names of the pike boys who have preceded him in death. Among these was the late Robert Hogsette, whom he first met when Mr.. Hoggset was breading stone on the pike. He was twice married and was the father of 17 children, 13 boys and 4 girls. Of these 10 are living and seven are dead. Those surviving him are: Thomas, master mechanic of the Atchison, Topeka and Kansas city railroad, living at Topeka; Leando and Edward who are employed by the same road; Marion of Washington, PA; Mrs. Susan Tolbert of Cumberland, MD; Mrs.. Margaret Crawford of Keyser, W. VA; Mrs.. Daniel Collins and George, Samuel and Harry Paxton, all of Uniontown. He has lived in Uniontown since 1886 and in all that time has been suffering from rheumatism. He lives also brothers Joseph of Baltimore, William of Piedmont, W. VA., and David of Bridgeport, Ohio, all railroad men; and two sisters Mrs.. Susan Plummer of Oakland, MD, and Miss Margaret Paxton of the same place. Deceased has been a member of the M.P. church for 50 years. Funeral on Friday at 2 p.m. Interment at Oak Grove. (this was sent in by a member of Western PA. Gen. Soc.) I haven't figured out which Samuel this is, I checked the Paxton book by Wm. Paxton, but didn't spot him. Connie M. W. PA. 3. Hi, I'm researching the Paxton line and am looking for information about Henry Paxton, born in Allegany Co., Maryland. about 1830. He had a brother named David who was born in 1824. Henry moved to Texas and was living there about the turn of the century. Obviously, I have very little information about him and would appreciate more. If you have any information, please email me at [email protected]

    3. Hi all, Do not open something called "Cool Progs/Pretty Park.exe" Sorry, Yes I think it is some kind of virus. I did not e-mail it to anyone but I did make the mistake of opening it when it was sent to me. The best I can figure is that opening it e-mails it to everyone in your e-mail listings. It went to everyone I know and contacts I have made through genealogy. I was going to get mad at the person who sent it to me when I realized that they didn't e-mail it either. At least they had no idea it was being done. I hope this is the end of it and its just a prank. I think you are better off if can not open it or you would have unwilling emailed to your address book listing. Nancy Nancy http://nancysworld.net
