Thanks, Wanda! I am trying to link up my Great-great-great Grandmother, JANE PAXTON MCWILLIAMS, born ca. 1775 and died in 1803, in Belmont co. Ohio (Scotch Ridge). Her father was John, and I do have info on a John born in 1742 in York Co. PA, but nothing to really link them at this moment other than the names, times, and locations are all about right. Also have tentative names of Jane's siblings: John, Samuel, Margaret and Nancy, and the parents were said to have been "Protestant Irish." (Why couldn't one of them have been a Mehitabel or something??) I would really like to know of Jane's parents, and their history. I have recently corresponded with some other Paxton descendants, and hope to share with them as well. I have reasonably good info on Jane and ALEXANDER MCWILLIAMS' offspring should anyone care to share. John P. McWilliams, Jr. -of the "Dwight, Illinois clan" Researching: McWILLIAMS, CARROTT, Weagley, Latimer, Paxton, Nixon, mostly in Ohio and Illinois from about 1780.

Welcome New Members. Searching for info on one lonely lady. Sarah, as above, married David DeYarmon 1830 in Jefferson Co., Ohio. I have her descendants; however, nothing of her past. Any assistance appreciated. Audrey

I am still trying to penetrate the wall behind Isabella R. Paxton to learn her parents, siblings, etc, so I will repeat this message: Seeking to identify the parents and siblings for Isabella Paxton. Isabella was probably born in North Carolins about 28 February 1781. She married Pliny Robbins March 1801. Pliney Robbins was born 9 February 1781, also probably in NC. He died Febuary 1812. They had four children: Sophia Western Robbins who married James Oliver; Caroline Robbins married Thomas J. Powell; Eveline Robbins married David Waits; and Algernon Sydney Robbins who married Elizabeth Turner (my 3rd great grandparents). Isabella married 2nd John Grant in S.C. by whom she had David Milton Grant, born about 1818. David married Nancy Wait, daughter of David and Eveline Wait. John died before the 1820 census in which Isabella (age 25-45) is shown as head of the household in Abbeville Co, SC. Isabella moved back to Georgia and is found in Hall Co. in 1827. The 1830 census for Dekalb Co., GA lists her (age 40-50), after which we lose tract of her. This plea for information has been aired before, and was published many times in various genealogical publications, but always without reward. Hopefully, this time someone will come through to solve this problem for me, or at least give me a clue that might lead to a solution. Dwight Allen
Hello Family (as we are all related somehow somewhere.....) Anyway, I have had many emails asking for the Paxton newspaper articles. There are several. The majority of them are written by George West Diehl (a famous historian) and there is also a article about Capt. John Paxton and Phoebe Alexander Paxton (not my direct branch, but VERY interesting article). These are posted at: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/surnames/pax/PaxtonBios This is a great place to post info such as this (thanks for the idea Wanda!!!). Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions or have problems pulling this up!!! Hi Wanda, Several years ago I asked Frank Paxton about those Paxtons buried at St. Paul's in Edenton. At that time he said he had them in their place among the family; so, I suppose they will be in his new book if we ever see it. Regards, Jeanne P. I just spoke with the publisher of Frank Paxton's book "The Paxtons: An American History" to find out when it will be available. It is in the production process, but the process has been delayed as they are checking some of the facts, etc. to ensure accuracy before the book is published. I was assured I would be contacted as soon as the book is available. I will post as soon as I hear anything else from them. If you would like to learn more about Frank's book and its contents, the publishing company has this information on their web site at: http://www.janemobley.com/paxton/index.html Wanda

I posted the info I have, which is very little. I realize that a lot of you already have the information forward, but just thought for others who don't, might help them connect easier. Their children are Thurman, Betty, Evelyn, Kenneth, Brian and Geraldine. I have birth and death dates of my grandparents, but have to locate them. Any help is appreciated. Hi David - Yes, John Paxton (No. 4) was Sam Houston's grandfather. According to what I have, John's wife was MARY Blair. Sam's mother Elizabeth and my gr-gr-grandmother Hannah were sisters. If John No. 4 is your ancestor, you have a lot of cousins on the Paxton list and you will probably get a lot of info. If not, let me know. I have a Paxton GEDCOM that some kind Paxton cousin sent me long ago, but I am tied up right now with several jobs and don't have time to delve into it. You're right about the first names - they get really confusing. Good luck, Terry P.S. If you're interested in Cousin Sam, there's a great bio of him: M. K. Wisehart: "Sam Houston: American Giant," based on Sam's own writings and speeches, as well as newspaper and journal articles of his day. I found a copy in my tiny local library and then bought one via the internet. -----Original Message----- From: David Guthrie <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Sunday, January 09, 2000 6:12 PM Subject: [PAXTON-L] Paxtons of Rockbridge County, VA >Hello, > >My name is David Guthrie and I am researching my Paxton ancestors.
