    1. [PAXTON-L] Canadian Paxtons
    2. Chris Bailey
    3. Alice & Charlotte My Paxton branch is in Ontario Canada and can be traced back to northeast England (Wolsingham, Durham County). My line came to Canada in 1820 and settled in the Whitby Ontario area (north shore of Lake Ontario east of Toronto), and moved north about 20 miles to Port Perry during the 1800s. Parts of the family did move to the US (NY, CO and CA) in the mid-1800s, but I don't have many details on those lines. I have no Samuel Paxtons in my list of names. Charlotte, I believe the family travelled up the St Lawrence river and landed at either Quebec City or Montreal. It is possible there is a line I don't know about who settled in Quebec rather than coming to Ontario. Happy to share or try to put families together again. 3. David, I know it has been a spell since you wrote your reply to this person, but, I just wanted to let you know that I, too, have been working on this same Paxton family. My connections are through Jean Jane Paxton, da. of Thomas Paxton the brother of John Paxton you speak of here. I have been doing research on this Paxton family for many a year. Yes, we have know of Gen. Sam Houston the son of Elizabeth Paxton for a long time. We have visited Elizabeth's grave site at Indepentant, Texas. There is a great story there. There is a lot more that I could tell you, but I will not take up anymore of your time Juanita in Texas Terry Belanger wrote: > > Hi David - Yes, John Paxton (No. 4) was Sam Houston's grandfather. 3. Marilyn, what is the source of your information re "Paxtons run out of Va."??? My family have been in this state since 1746 and I have never heard of this legend. there were Mormons in the valley of Va. in the 19th century who were forced to leave, but to my knowledge there were no Paxton members of that sect. I will be most interested to learn more about this if there is factual evidence for such a statement. J. 1. [PAXTON-L] Charles Paxton
    2. DC & Alice Allen
    3. Looking for information on a Charles Paxton of Franklin Co. Ohio who was listed in court records as a plaintiff in an 1817 lawsuit. Could he have been the father of my ggg grandfather, Samuel Paxton who married Amy Wilcox in Franklin Co. OH in 1823? Am guessing that Samuel's father's birthdate was around 1775-1780, as Samuel was probably born about 1803-1805. He must have been a minor at his 1823 marriage, as the application states his father was dead & his mother gave permission for his marrying. Any help certainly appreciated. Thank you, Alice Allen [email protected]

    2. For many years I have been trying to find something on my great aunt. I never knew my grandmother so would like to know about the ole family as I' m sure many of you can understand. Pleeeeezzzzzz can anyone help me out? Zada (Allen) Paxton was born between 1880-1895 in Crawford or Orange Co, IN to Cyrus Allen. In 1910, she was living in Frankfort (state) unknown....just found a note in a Bible dated 1910 with her name and the city name after it. In 1926 when her mother died, the obituary gave the following: Zada (Allen) Paxton of Philadelphia. (state not given.) I can anyone help me out???? This is not the same Zada Paxton that is in the Social records for a Zada Allen in Nebraska as I have contacted that family. And I have no clue as to what her husband's name was or when/where they were married. If anyone can enlighten me on this, I will think (KNOW) that you walk on water!!
