I'm one of those looking forward to getting my own copy of the new Paxton book. The author/compiler of the Paxton book pub. 1903 -- William McClung Paxton-- included some interesting errors --one example was his reporting one of my ancestors as the daughter of her brother! Sure hope this was corrected in the new book, as I'm getting tired of being challenged when I report her as the daughter of her actual father. It's a good example, however, of why we can't substitute anyone's book or report for hands-on-hard-work research. Joanne --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? I just received an update on the status of the publication of the late Frank Paxton's book. They are getting close to sending it to the indexer. The estimated time of publication will depend upon how fast the indexer completes their job. They are estimating it will be after the first of the year, at the earliest. For those of you who may be new to the Paxton-L, you can find information on this book on my website at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~wanda/book.html I will keep you all posted if I hear anything further. If anyone knows a Connie Paxton whose Paxton family was from Kansas, please send me contact information (e-mail or telephone number). Thanks, Wanda
I am researching my Paxton line and I thought I would post as much as I know at his time in hopes of finding more information. My great great grandfather's name was David A. Paxton (1860 - 1925) and he is buried in Lurgan Township, outside Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. He had one child, Clarence Paxton (1886 - 1956) who married Sarah Hosfeld and had 2 children, Margaret (1916 - current) and Wilbur A. Paxton (1921 - 1993). Margaret married Herman Willard and Wilbur married Betty Vaughn, Dates are unknown. I asked Margaret Paxton Willard, the oldest living Paxton relative, about David's father and she seems to think his name was Eber and his wife was Ann. If there is any mention of these in anyone's research and you would be so kind to share, it would be much appreciated. Tamara, You are correct on your dates for all of these early immigrant Paxton's who ended up in Virginia according to my records.. I am a descendant of this Samuel's line as well. You might want to know that Timber Ridge Church is now in Rockbridge County, as Augusta County was divided and Rockbridge created from the original in 1778. To be more exact, Timber Ridge is approximately 5 miles north of Lexington, VA on US 11. Jack, Your generous offer to check your books for surnames is wonderful. What do you have on the Paxton's? What is your source for the birth location of John Paxton? I am also a descendant, and would love to share info. Can start by suggesting that if you haven't already done so, you check out my Paxton Cemetery online at http://www.geocities.com/qvarizona/PaxtonCemetery.html I'm working with several other researchers trying to track Augusta/Rockbridge/Botetourt ancestors who --we think-- originally settled in PA. Surnames are: Humes andCarlin (who I believe came on the same ship from Ireland). I have lots of others, but will restrain myself because I suspect you will get flooded with requests.
