Hello to the members of the Wyoming Valley Web Site, I have a family history document, written by Annie Lampman in 1924,that refers to what may be ancestors of mine escaping from the Wyomong Valley massacre in 1789 and going to Pauling (Pawling?), Dutchess County, New York. My ancestors are William Cooper, his wife Abigail Leanord and their son William. My questions regarding this are: 1. Based on the fact the Revolutionary War was over in 1783 and General Sullivan's march into central New York State was in 1779, was the Wyoming Valley massacre perhaps 1779 instead of 1789 ? 2. What geographic area did the Wyoming Valley encompass during the Revolutionary War era ? 3. Does this Cooper family, any Cooper or Leanord family of the 1700s, in Wyoming Valley, ring a bell with any subscribers.
