I have the book "Montross: a Family History" (J.W. Taylor, 1958) and find the following information: m. 4 Dec 1827 (only 6 months after Lavinia died!) Olive Jackson b. 18 June 1796 in Rutland Co, Vt., dau. of Joseph Jackson (b. 23 April 1769 in Granville, Mass.) and Margaret French, his wife (b. 18 Jan. 1775 in Attleboro, Mass.) (family bible); Olive d. 24 June 1873; bur. Beaumont cem. In the text, it says, "Besides bringing up his own 4 children, Peter also raised his second wife's son Angelo Jackson." So it seems that Olive may have had a first marriage or a child out of wedlock! (since the last name is Jackson? hmmm.) With Olive, he had children William Alonzo Montross b. 4 Jan.1829 and Peter Henry Montross b. 7 Aug. 1832.
