Jacob Gray a tanner by trade came here from Worcester, Mass, about 1794 and two or 3 years later married Sarah Sturdevant, daughter of Rev Samuel Sturdevant of Black Walnut. Soon after the marriage they settled on North Flat and lived there until 1815. On May 2, 1808 a son David D Gray, was born After leaving North Flat they bought a farm just north of Lacyville and built a tannery which for many years was the only tannery in the area. At the age of 26 David D. Gray became a pastor and served theBraintrim Baptist Church for 31 years with the exception of one year absence between 1849 and 1881. [email protected]
