Skinnerys Eddy Ferry-Jesse Sturdevant son of Rev. Samuel Sturdevant of Black Walnut established a ferry at Skinners Eddy in 1802. He operated it for many years between Skinners Eddy and North Flat and then sold it to Robert Brungess. In 1887 Robert Brungess leased it to A. L. Waltman and went to Mehoopany to operate the Jennings ferry. Isaac and Mary Rogers Rosengrant bought the ferry from Robert Brungess and he operated it until his death . Mrs Rosengrant continued the ferry and hired Russell Comstock, to run it for her. In 1912 the ferry was suspended for lack of business, but was used again in 1918 when the north Flat end of the bridge was destroyed by flood. The business people of Laceyville and Skinners Eddy and the farmerson the opposite side of the river formed a group to sponsor a new ferry to be used at Skinners Eddy. After the ferry was completed a bee was held to launch it in to river late in 1918.
