Floyd Shoemaker, son of Gardner and Sarah Williams Shoemaker, lived on the old homestead in Upper Scotsville. He married Blanche Keeney of Golden Hill and they had 3 children Harold, Madge and Richard. Madge at about the age of three was so badly burned by sparks from a brush fire that she died. The tragedy brought so much sorrow to the parents that they decided to move to Laceyville, where Mr Shoemaker began to work for the Whipple Brothers Lumber Co. later they moved elsewhere to work for the company. Blanch died and Floyd later married Myrtle Gibbs. He died at the age of 86, and was buried at North Flat near his wife and daughter Madge.
