    3. Cont: Wednesday 1 June 1864 Very beautiful and warm day. Until about noon then it clouded over and we had a very hard shower it hailed very hard indeed; After school went to Mr Bells; Granny William's stayed their all night. Thursday, June 2, 1864 Very pleasant after the shower which occurred last evening teaching 20 scholars this day a great many of the scholars have got the whopping cough after school went to Mr Bells. Friday 3 Received a letter last evening from George and answered it today. Teaching of course this day. Had visitors Louisa Houser and Lizzie Taylor went home after school. Saturday 4 Thought I would get my piece out today. Out come to did not have enough rags sewed so will have to wait until next Saturday to finish Ann Race called. Sunday, June 1864 Pleasant, Pa and Ma went to Mr Pilgrims today so I had to stay at home from Sunday School to do the work. Jerome Howser called, Min and I went home with him after we got home Riley and Ann made a short call. Monday 6 Very warm and pleasant this forenoon, but clouded up this afternoon and it rained very hard indeed. After school went to Mr Lutes's. Ellen and I went to bed at an early hour. Tuesday 7 Rather pleasant out is awful cold so I think almost froze this forenoon but built a little fire at noon so it is quite comfortable. The superintendent visited my school today. Wednesday, June 8 1864 Got to school this morning some one had stole my Monthly Report but soon found a paper had written on the 3rd. Mary I took the Report home with me"; so I was not much scared. Thursday 9 Cloudy and rainy day and seems very lonely. Teaching 24 scholars, after school went to Mr Luteses been boarding there this week. Friday 10 Very cold again shouldn't much wonder but we will have snow, heard this morning the George was drafter it is to bad I think, went home to night- Mollie Hetfield. Saturday, June 11 1864 At home all day long. good I have finished my carpet today most awful glad of it sent two letters today one to George W Thompson and one to Martha J Depue Saturday June 11 1864 M Sunday 12 Rather late when I got to Sunday School but in time to teach my class. Stayed to meeting Mr Wells from Kingston preached a very good sermon. Isaac Reeve and George Demon made a short call. Monday 13 The day dawns very delightful again, teaching again the school house got a fire this afternoon but it did not happen to burn up. After school went to Uncle Eligah's Reeves. Tuesday June 14, 188864 A very pleasant day and is very warm. Teaching 20 scholars more than half of my pupils have the whooping cough. Tommie has it very hard; Minnie Reeves and I called to Mr Browns this evening. Wednesday 15 Very pleasant and warm day teaching 21 scholars. After school went to Uncle Elijahs Ellen Lutes was there a visiting Melinda and I came a piece with her when she went home stopped at the office but did not Thursday 16 Another year has past and I am appeared to enjoy another birthday, enjoying myself teaching, and after school went to Uncle Thompsons. Jane came home and we had a good time. Friday,June 17 It is a very warm day not a cloud to be sky. After school was out Min came along and said we had to clean the school house had to do as she said and so we cleaned it. I am afraid we did not get it very clean. Saturday 18 Another Saturday has again made its round done nothing of much importance today. Well I am glad I am out of debt once more. Have got all my letters answered at present but I expect more next week. Sunday 19 Intended to go to Sunday School this morning but did not get up early enough, so I did not get there in time to teach my class but attended meeting Mr Holmes preached. Had an introduction to Cousin Jennie. Theds Wife. Monday, June 20 1864 Very pleasant, but most an awful warm day. Had four new scholars making fifty different one that I have had in all. Boarding to Mr Housers this week "Very pleasant day indeed" Tuesday 21 today is very peasant not quite as warm a it was yesterday, Teaching 36 scholars, two new scholars today, after school went to Mr Housers did retire at an early hour. Wednesday 22 Rather cloudy this morning but cleared off and was very warm in the afternoon. I was in hopes we would have a nice shower but it has not come yet it is awful dry and dusty. Thursday 23 18864 Beautiful upon the mountains. Beautiful and warm yet, teaching 36 scholars, After school went home but stopped to the Post Office first. Pa had been to the Office and got a letter so I went on and met Henry he said Min had opened my letter. I felt mad enough to fight, well I went on home found Aunt Martha, Mrs T & G Hetfield there. I was so provoked I did not enjoy my self very well I was sorry but could not help it. Friday 24 Dear me it does not look like rain yet well we must not fret for I suppose it will not rain until it gets ready. It has not rained in about three weeks it is warm enough to roast anyone. at home all day Ann R Called. Saturday 25 What a story I did write that I was home all day but I was not home. I was teaching but I was mistaking I thought I was writing for Saturday but came to see it was Friday, but I am at home today and Ann Race called. Sunday,June 26 1864 Attended Sunday School and meeting this forenoon. Mr Swarts preached, after dinner Min and I started to see a big spring but did not get there got as far as Rilys and Ann went home with us. Monday 27 the sun appeared very dim this morning and it clouded over and had very much the appearance of a storm but it did not make out to rain it has not rained any for 2 weeks. Tuesday 28 Very beautiful and pleasant day, teaching 28 scholars this day. After school was out at night went to Simon Rouses I can not think of any more to write I will have to stop. Wednesday June 19, 1864 Pleasant warm and lazy day for me perhaps it will not be lazy for every one but I guess I am one of the lazy kind got pretty mad at my scholars today I could of jerked some of them about right. Thursday 30 Well I do declare if it has not made out to rain once more, something that we very much need for it has not rained before in 3 or 4 weeks; after school went to simian Reeves been boarding there this week.
