    3. Cont: Sunday May 1 1964 Attended Sunday School and Prayer Meeting this forenoon. Attended Mrs Pikes funeral this afternoon, and Coe Poole came down to see me before he went away. Monday May 2 Very pleasant day. Walked and helped clean house. Mother went to Mr H 's a visiting left Min and I all alone worked like tiger. Tuesday, May 3 18864 Very unpleasant day; It is so cloudy and rainy. Lib Hetfield and Emmie were here to day. Weaving part of the day, visited the other part. Mollie Hetfield. Wednesday 4 This forenoon it was very cloudy. but cleared off long towards night and looks quite pleasant again; of course weaving, wove the whole of two yards this day, Thursday 5 A very pleasant day indeed; Cleaning house while washing nailing down carpet, Towards night Jane Hetfield called, left two bunches of low to be taken back on Wednesday,(I wonder if she did. Friday, 6 May 1864 Very pleasant day although is quite windy. done nothing of any consequences hardly today. hoped will not be so tired tomorrow. Saturday 7 Very fine day. A very fine shower this evening. Received a letter from G.R.H. and also one from Wm T. very glad to hear from them. Sunday 8 A very beautiful, and fine day. Went to Sunday School this forenoon and Lib Hetfield came home with me after dinner went to Mr Wells funeral. Oliver Lewis preached. Monday May 9, 1864 Pleasant and beautiful day. Mrs Beam, Mrs Newman, Callie Jaques here a visiting. Wove two yards today. Tuesday 10 Weaving of course that is about all I do now a days; wove nearly 3 yards today, quite smart for one of my size . im now in 9 I think so. Wednesday 11 Quite cloudy this forenoon, looks very much like a storm, Well the spinning beads off today. Ma and I thought we would go. got nearly ready and it up and rained. So we had to stay at home felt quite mad. Thursday May 12 1864 Thought I would be cunning yesterday and write before the day passed; I wrote that I did not go to the spinning bee because it rained. but cleared off almost half past 2. So we thought we would go, Ma and I. I had a very good time and a great many there had a good time coming home through the rain have we done much today. Friday 13 It is very cloudy yet does not look much although it was to clear off very soon. Got up middling early this morning, milked two cows, then felt sick and went to bed and stayed until forenoon. After dinner Olive Thompson came along and I went to Mr Chaplains with her. Stopped in Beams she told me that she would . Saturday 14 Well I do declare if it does not rain yet. Im hopes it would be pleasant today, but is not. got out of rags so I cannot weaver, although had enough to weave one yard today. I expect I will have to go go to sewing rags; To weave is Commercial Collage floor. Sunday May 15 1864 Quite Pleasant this for noon but clouded up about noon and looks very much like rain again. Attended Sunday School although did not get there in time to attend to my class. Was elected Treasurer of the "Missionary Sunday" Monday 16 Well it is cloudy yet commenced teaching this morning with 26 scholars Mim and father went to Wilkes-Barre today. I expect to get a new dress but got nothing but a net with steel beads. Tuesday 17 Pleasant today teaching 30 scholars, 12 new scholars if I increase 12 everyday this week will have as many as I can attend. went to the store got a comb, crochet needle and paper of needles. Wednesday May 18 1864 Received a letter this morning from S.B. Pool. very much surprise but glad to hear from him. enclosed was his photograph. Went to M. Jaques after school to see Frank. Thursday 19 Started to school this morning. Frank and Cal came as far as the Ferry with me. Teaching 35 scholars .Went home tonight Min and Deb had st my school today. Friday 20 Very nice day. Teaching 36 scholars. gave ten cents for the "Missionary Society" this morning. while quite liberal for me. Isn't it. I think so. Saturday, May 21 1864 At home all day have not done much of anything hope I will be more busily engaged, sowed the braid on my dress mended my mitts, scrubbed baked churned and etc. Mary Hetfield. Sunday 22 Very cloudy this morning and looked very much like rain so I went to Sunday School with my sun bonnet, almost ashamed to go to meeting but thought I would Mr Holmes preached. Monday 23 Very pleasant but rather cold for the time of the year. teaching 30 scholars today had 2 new scholars of course went home after school was out. Awful punt say what. Tuesday May 24, 1864 Very pleasant and warm most awful warm I think. Sent a letter to George to day have not got any from him in over three weeks. I think it is strange that he does not write. Wednesday 25 Rather cloudy this morning looks very much like rain; after school went to Mrs Pooles; In the evening went to the grocery saw Dewitt Carey, no one else in the store. Thursday 26 Very Cloudy this morning commenced raining about noon and rained all day long. teaching 25 scholars received a letter from Martha Depew very glad to hear from her. Friday May 27 1864 Very cloudy looks as thought the rain is not over yet. of course teaching school at noon went over Mrs Pools, Julia was there a visiting. in the afternoon Delia Gorden came to school. Saturday 28 At home all day long weaving on my carpet wove over 3 yards. I am in hopes an other saturday will finish the carpet. Don't you? Received two letters today one from George and the other from Chim Lain glad to hear from him. Sunday 29 Attended Sunday School and meting, Mel Swarts preached from psalms VIII Chapter 3 & 4 verses, afternoon Mag Austin called went over to Mr Brunges with her from there home intending soon to retire but George Demon came down and wanted me to sit up with his mother so I went. Monday 30 May 1864 Dear me awful tired, lazy and sleepy, after setting up all night; Nattie Loomis sat up with me, I slept about 3 hours out-she did not sleep a wink, almost got a sleep in school today but made out to keep one eye open while the other was sleeping, I did not feel as bad as I expected I would. Tuesday 31 Got to the school house this morning had to sweep out by that time it was time to call school called with 20 scholars. Mrs Rogers funeral was preached today. to be continued.
