Continued: Tuesday March 1, 1864 A very cloudy and stormy day It has snowed all day long and the snow is about 2 inches deep after school went to Limy Swarts in the evening Bell and I went down to Mr Fitches. Wednesday 2 It is a very pleasant day but is quite cold of course teaching school; had Ortana standing on the floor all day and boxed her ears she did not like it any to well. Thursday 3 It is a very pleasant day there is not a cloud to be seen but it is quite muddy went to Share Swarts to night teaching 18 scholars this day. Friday March 4, 1864 It is very pleasant today and awful muddy .Israel O'Neal was to visit my school today after school went to Mr Savasts. Mr and Mrs Daily and Mrs Agnew was there. retired at midnight. Saturday 5 A very cloudy and stormy day rained all the afternoon very hard. after school went to Mr Depews the mud is almost knee deep went to bed at an early hour. Sunday 6 A very cloudy day somewhat colder than it ws yesterday. Lym and Bell Swarts and Lydia Fitch was here today, after dinner Lym, Martha, Reach and I took a walk. Monday March 7, 1864 It is a very pleasant day there is not a cloud to be seen "illuminating the heavens" teaching 20 scholars to day after school went to Mrs Lydia Fitches. Tuesday 8 It is pleasant today but not so pleasant as it was yesterday it is quite muddy and awful nasty going, went to Mrs Fitchs after school. Wednesday 9 It is a remarkable fine day over head but under foot it is very muddy yet. Teaching 20 scholars today. Mollie Hetfield. Thursday 10 March 1864 It is a very cloudy day and quite rainy in the afternoon. After school went to Mrs Lydia Fitches, Jean Agenew was there she stayed all night had a good time. A very dark and cloudy day did not rain any until night and then it rained as hard almost as it could pour down it also thundered and lightened very hard. A babe is born. Saturday 12 A very cloudy day. teaching 16 scholars, after school went to Mr Depews Knit a little after supper felt very lazy and went to bed at an early hour. Sunday March 13, 1864 A very cloudy,stormy,noowy, rainy,lonesome day, In the afternoon Lydia, Martha and I went and seen the baby all kissed it and made a wish. But mine did not come to pass. Monday 14 It is very cold today although it is quite pleasant over head under foot it is very muddy indeed after school went home with Ortance and Mary. Tuesday 15 It is a very cloudy and stormy day snowed a little about enough to make it muddy and nasty going it is quite warm . Wednesday March 16, 1888864 Ot os a very Cloudy and cold day it is awful going as hubby and bubbly as it can be. After school went to Mr O'Neils. Mrs O'Neil had a call to go out and spend the evening. Thursday 17 It is not quite as cold as it was yesterday. It is cold enough yet teaching 16 scholars today. I wish it was w week from today. Friday 18 It is somewhat warmer than it has been for a few days previous. hope it will get warmer. towards night clouded up and tried to snow but did not amount to much. Saturday March 19, 1864 It is a very cloudy day snowed all the forenoon very hard. made a little mud for folks to travel through after school went to Mr Depews. Sunday 20 It is very cold today disliked to get up this morning, almost nine o'clock when I did get up. J. F called before Martha and I got washed and dressed we felt a little ashamed. Monday 21 It is a very pleasant day indeed, but is rather cold. teaching the whole of 12 scholars this day rather lonesome. went to Mr D. Daileys tonight. Tuesday March 22, 1864 It is most an awful cold day for the time of year. Of course teaching school; the whole of ten scholars are here this day. after school went to Mr. Fitches. Wednesday 223 It is a very cold and cloudy day; I would get warmer, but I do not see any signs of it yet. after school went to Mr Fitches. Thursday 24 It is a very cold day the wind blows very hard indeed. Today is the last day of my school I am not glad nor so very sorry. Friday March 25, 18864 It is rather cloudy to day but is quite warm looks very much like a storm hope it will not until I get home. Started from Mr Dewitts at an early hour called on all my old friends a far as Mr O'Neils and stayed there all night. Saturday 26 It is an awful stormy day raining and snowing all the time, started from Mr O'Neils about 10 o"clock called to Mr D--------y's and took dinner stayed with Mr Depews all night. Sunday 27 It is a very cloudy day. Martha Rachel and Albert took me to the river this morning Min and Pa was at the river waiting for me. Monday March 28, 188864 A very warm and pleasant day at home all day, rather lonesome after my school is out, have to work a little now. washed today. Jane Tuesday 29 Rather cloudy today. Wednesday 30 It is so very rainy today and I am very sorry for Olive Thompson was coming along and then we was going over to Mr Housers to see Jar vine but it cant be done. Thursday March 31 18864 this morning the snow was about a foot deep but it all melted off before night and is awful nasty going. At night attended a party at Mr Brushes has a middling good time.
