Continued: Monday February 1 1864 It is a very dark and rainy day, and very lonesome after leaving home. rained, hailed and snowed today so they all together made a very stormy day. teaching 18 scholars.. Tuesday 2 Today is quite pleasant overhead but is very turbid under foot teaching 20 scholars kept L. D. after school had a long and serious talk with him after promising to do better I dismissed him and C. Wednesday Feb. 8, 18864 This morning snowed some. I was in hopes it would make good sleighing but it snowed about enough to make nasty going-- Boarding to Father Daileys this week, at night charles hitched up his matched horses and his new sleigh and came after us. we had a very good sleigh ride. Thursday 4 It is quite cold today and snowy muddy under foot. Dear me my foot is very sore indeed I think it hurts worse instead of better hope it will soon get well so I will not have to go hobbling around. Friday 6 It is very cloudy and looks like rain or snow I do not know which it will do but I hope it will snow after school went to my boarding place in the evening listened to Charley play on his fiddle. Saturday February 1864 It is very cloudy day snowed a little this morning but not enough to hurt anyone. Teaching the whole of 12 scholars this day it is more awful lonesome after school went to Mr Depews. Sunday 7 It is a very cloudy day indeed attended meeting at my school house Mr. Compton preached a very good sermon after meeting went to Mr Dephew it was very lonesome day. Reading a book the title of which is "Three Nights in the Barroom". Monday 8 It is a very dark, cloudy and snow squally day. after school went home with Ortance Oneal had a pleasant time going home it snowed and the wind almost blew us away we got very cold also, Tuesday February 9, 188864 It is a very cloudy and cold day had a terrible time getting to school this morning through the snow and mud went over shoe once and got my foot wet did not feel very comfortable with wet feet. Wednesday 10 A rather cold day teaching 20 scholars today received two letters this morning one from George and the other from Mim and Pa. very glad to hear from them all. Kept J. C. after school. Ortance waited for me we had a good time going home all alone. Thursday 11 It is very cold today indeed but is quite pleasant. Teaching 20 scholars today Boarding to Mr Oneals this week having very good times there sometimes swinging and getting my head bumped etc, etc, etc, etc, etc. Friday February 12, 1864 It is a very pleasant day and is quite cold. Mary Ortance and I went home across to night had a very good time a climbing fences etc when we got home it was most dark. Saturday 13 It is quite a pleasant day teaching school of course had visitors Miss Martha Dephew and Mr John Fitch, after school went home with Martha in the evening John and Lydia came up. midnight when we went to bed Sunday 14 It is a very windy day, Martha, Albert and I went down to Mr Fitches, after dinner John and Lydia went home with us, stayed a little while and John started for Kingston, Loyd went home. Monday February 165, 1864 It is a middling fine day, but is quite cold teaching 20 scholars this day do not feel very well my foot is so sore my head aches and C went to Miss Lydia Fitches tonight. Tuesday 16 It is a very snowy day indeed one looks as though we were going to have sleighing hope we will. went to Mr D Austin tonight. Wednesday 17 It is most an awful cold day the wind blows and the snow flies in every direction going to school the wind was in my face all of the way I almost froze. Thursday February 18, 1864 A very cold day but not so cold as it was yesterday the wind does not blow so bad as it did yesterday. Went to Mr Austins tonight two gentlemen called one did not stay very long and the other stayed until an early hours in the morning and went home. Friday 19 A very cold day had short time to consider weather to have school this afternoon but at last I thought I would have school all day, after school I went home. Pa was at the river waiting for me I was almost frozen when I got home. Saturday 20 Last evening Sarah and Lenor Winters made a short call invited Min and I to come there this afternoon. Min had the pleasure of going but I in consequence of a sore foot could not go. Sunday February 21, 1864 A rather pleasant day but quite muddy. Yesterday received $15 for teaching the Pincherville school. Mag Austin and Olive Thompson came to see me today. Monday 22 Today bring me a very sore foot from the effects I suppose of walking to the river Friday night and of wearing tight shoes. I hope it will not be sore long. Thursday 23 A very fine day and quite warm at home today but ought to be over the river teaching school but my sore foot prevents me from going. Wednesday February 24, 1864 It is very cloudy today and I am quite lonesome after school Jane Hetfield came home with Min then I was not quite so lonesome very glad to see her. Thursday 25 It is a very cloudy and warm day Chim Lain came home with Min to night very glad to see her. Showed Min and Chim how to do a few examples and retired at an early hours. Friday 26 It is rather colder today than it has been it has been a very stormy day Chim has been here all day had a very good time listened to Mim tell storeies etc. Friday February 27, 1864 the snow that came yesterday is all mud and slosh now so much for a snow storm at home until about 2 o'clock then came over the river stayed at Amos Dewitts all night. Sunday 28 A very dark and cloudy day and very muddy started for Mr Dephews this morning stopped to Charrick Dewitts and took dinner arrived at Mr Dephews about dark. Monday 29 Teaching school again after an absence of one week glad to see all my scholars seated in the school room with their pleasant smile etc again a pleasant day. To be continued. \
