Recently I have seen the 1860 and 1870 census images for Monroe Township, in Wyoming County. I believe William HETTESHEIMER who appeared in both census' is my ggGrandfather. I hope some of you can offer more information about this line of my ancestry. William's son, my Great grandfather was: Henry Oscar HETTES, b. 1860, d. 1936, m. Emily Simmons I think Henry married again (or was previously). His siblings: J. Sharps, Milton, Elizabeth, Bertha, Emily. I have reason to believe Milton is a half brother to Henry, and that a certain Sorenda (who I have seen on this message board) is also related. The 1860 census has the following listed: Wm. HETTESHEIMER, 46, farmer, born in Germany Sarah, 38, born in PA Mary, 16, Born in PA Caroline, 10, PA Sharps, 11, PA Mariah?, 9, PA Bettha Ann, 7, PA Simon?, 11 mos, PA The 1870 census has: Wm. HETTESHEIMER, 54, Farmer, born Saxe Me'mgen P***? HM, 41, Helping Hand (or Keeping Home), NJ Caroline, 22, Dom Servt, PA S D?, 21, ?? Home, PA BA, 16, PA HO, 10, PA A? M?, 2, PA Ne?? CA, 14, attending school, PA Wm H, 11, Attending School, PA J A?, 9, PA Regrettably, I've lost previous correspondence from a couple of list members and hope to recover, expand and clarify my current data.
