    3. I Went thought my source files and this is what came up with. 1 st source for Maggies date of birth 1858 is The Detrick Tomb stone records found at the Wyoming Historic Society in Tunkahnnock. the stone was ordered by Mrs Margaret Osterhout her address was given as Osterhout Pa and her phone was 212-R-4. Stone reads Winfred Osterhout 1850 - 1915, Margaret Austin his wife 1858. Stone to be set in La Grange Cemetery in July. cost of stone $73.00. The order was placed on 2 June 1927, Page 107 record 9130. 2. In her father Civil War Papers, The Additional Evidence document - Application for pension : is listed the following names and date of birth of all the children of said deceased soldier Sarah M Austin B 2 Sept. 1854 Maggie M Austin B 5 April 1857 Emma E Austin b 6 Feb. 1859 Signature of claimant on the document Margery Caroline Austin. 3. Another Civil War file document - Widows claim for Pension dated 22 June 1865 report 3 children under age of 16 years. Sarah Age 11, Maggie age 8 Emma Age 6 years of age. P.M. Osterhout of Tunkhannock appointed Attorney for Margery C Austin. 4 another document in the file No 63,244 - Department of Interior Claim of widow having Minor children is dated 27 July 1964 It states Maggie M who will be 16 on 4 April 1873, which would make her dob 1857. 5. Marge Gray a researcher who lives in Florida also says Maggie dob 5 April 1857. Not sure what date of birth for Maggie I sent you but all sources except the Detrick Tombstone records says 5 April 1857. So I think 1857 must be correct. However one would think Maggie would have known her correct year of birth. But its possible the Detrick got it wrong. Her father David B Austin enlisted at Trenton N.J. 25 Feb. 1864, Pvt co I 2nd N.J. Vol. He died at Andersonville, S.C. prison 14 August 1864, from dysentery. He was taken prisoner at the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House, Va 14 day of May 1864. This is the entire document from the file that I copied at the National Archives in Washington, D.C. Not sure if I copied every doc or not. Also personally appeared before me George Osterhous and Moagan Fitch residents of Wyoming County and State of Pennsylvania to me well known as credible persons who being duly sworn declare that they were present and saw Margery C Austin sign her name to the foregoing declaration and that they have every reason to believe from the appearance of said applicant and their acquaintance with her that she is the identical person she represents herself to be and they further state that they know from personal knowledge that the above named children are the children of the applicant and her said deceased husband and that they are still living and that they have no interest in this claim either personal or --------- and that they have no concerned directly or indirectly in its ------------.. George Osterhout Morgan Fitch Sworn and subscribed to before me this 11th day of September 1866 and I certify that I have no interest direct or individual in the prosecution of this claim and that the certainty of the above was made known and explained to applicant and witnesses before signing Biha Scott Prouthonotary who are the Pattersons you are tracing? My Great Grandmother Sarah Adaline Clark's mother was Elizabeth Jane Patterson, She married Sidney Zina Clark. Elizabeth father was Henry Patterson and her mother was mary Schafer. Good luck Marian
