    3. Thursday, December 1 1864 Sarah and Bill Connel fetched down the filling last evening. And today commenced to weave got 2 yards and 1/4 woven for the first day. Very pleasant and warm day for the first of December. Friday, December 2, 1864 Very pleasant day for weaving.wove 3 yards not very well done I do think but if I do not weave so much it will soon get-out-warm and pleasant so far in this winter month. I wish it would be so all winter. Saturday 3 Wove 4 14 yards today again a little each day. I received my gold pen and case today and like it very well. Night has come but Min has not got here yet. I think she is making a good long stay of it. Sunday 4 At home all day long not anyone here sewed read and pasted a piece for my scrapbook. Did not go to meeting for it was rather late when we got up I could not get ready in time. Monday, December 5, 188864 Wove 5 yards this day for Monday. Mrs McConnell came down to see about the filling through I wove it rather too good and had better weave it thinner and so I have commended to weave again. Tuesday 6 Well it has rained a little today wove 6 yards this day have got half of the piece wove; Leonora Houser and Sarah Called in the evening to see my new dress. paid me 23 cts for weaving. Wednesday 7 Rather cloudy, and rained towards night. Marg Austin called she was going to Dallas but it rained so she stayed all night - presented me with a salt-dish Ma went to Uncles. Thursday, December 8 188864 Marg started bright and early this morning it is pleasant out awful cold. Mrs Mc Connell came down to fetch some more filling - to day finished 30 yards about 13 yards, more to weave then my weaving will b done once more. Friday 9 Today is is most tremendous cold but - I stick to my loom for I am in a hurry to get my piece out. Attended a party this evening at the house of D.G Carys. Had a very good time considering Y.V. -- brought me home it is nicely annoying. Saturday 10 Well another 6 days and work is done on other Saturday night has come and I feel awful sleepy so I will retire early? Well Min has not come home yet. Sunday, December 11, 18864 At home all day long but Min came home and Louisa Major, Chim and Dave came with her glad to see them all. In the evening Mrs McDonnell to bring her other piece to weave but I think I will not weave it. Monday 12 Well Louisa, Chim and Dave went home today and ma went-with them. I expect Min and I will make great housekeeping. Orry Whitlock came to hire me to teach his school this winter at $15 per month. Tuesday 13 this day finished the piace and I am glad of it - for it - is getting rather cold to sit-up stairs all of the time. 45 3/4 yards in all; Marg Austin called a few moments!!!!! Wednesday, December 14, 1864 Rather cold and some what snowy. quite good sleighing. Min and I washed today had quite a large washing. Min hurt - her thumb so she could not finish the wash and I hurt mine before I got through, very bad, Thursday 15 Rather cold or awful cold I do not know which. Well today finished my new dress and I am most awful glad of it - good good sleighing but I do not get any sleigh rids Friday 16 Last evening this place was visited with a snow storm and it is very good sleighing indeed; fixed my coat and tired to fix my net but I could not make it out- well could you make it in? Saturday, December 17, 188864 Well I think the snow will soon go off if it keeps as warm as it is more long.Received a letter form John F West and also his photograph which I think is awful homely. I have my fortune told was to be married 1 April. Sunday 18 this morning very early started for the Corners on foot-called at Mrs Swarts and left - the Missionary money then called to D. Corys until Pa came along then we were soon on our way to Lehman,got there about noon took dinner started for home about 4 o'clock safe and sound. Monday 19 Today finds me seated in the school room once more at the Fitch schoolhouse. After school went to Mr Whitlocks. Hannah Wood and I took a sleigh ride. Tuesday, December 20., 1864 Still in the school room with 24 scholars, very cold indeed. Went up to mr Whitlocks - Lester Race called in the evening had our fortunes told; Lesser visited my school this afternoon. I was to be married in two less than two years. Wednesday 21 Very snowy and cold day Lesser Race here this forenoon. Started for the Army at noon it- looks so bad to see the poor fellows go down there to be killed, after school went down to Mr Fitches. Thursday 22 Cold, cold, very. I suppose winter is here we will have cold weather for a long time. Teaching 14 scholars it is so cold I suppose is the reason they do not come. Friday, December 23, 1864 Very cold indeed teaching 12 scholars this day, after school was out at night came home had to come all the way on foot and got very tired and cold before I got here. cut and pared a few apples and then to bed. Saturday 24 Well today have been making Mims new dress which is a very provoking job at least I think so. About dark got it so it would sit good. Mary K called a few moments. Sunday 25 At home all day long for a Merry Christmas, Callie Winter's and Callie Jaques made a short call. Ma and Pa have gone a sleigh riding. Margaret Austin called and stayed all night. Monday, Cucumber 26, 1864 Rather warm this day than it was the previous week. teaching 30 scholars this morning after school went to the Switzers knit a little. Retired at 1/2 last night. Tuesday 27 Warm I think the snow is going off very fast and it is night - went to Mr Switzers rather sloppy and wet. Wednesday 28 Very warm and rainy day the snow is about all gone kept Jedadiah Sickler after school; went over to mrs Sicklers and spent the evening very sloppy and wet going over to Mr Switzers. Thursday, December 29 1864 this morning when I got up found it has been snowing it is rather colder than it was yesterday. Hannah Wood visited my school this forenoon. Friday 30 Cold, cold very cold. teaching 24 scholars this day. After school came home met father coming after me so I did not have to walk all the way finished my stocking this evening. Saturday 31 Finished Mins waist and also cut mine out. Mr Mullock called in the evening Min and I starred for watch meeting but got to the church there was no meeting so had to come home again. thus has passed the preceding year 1864 The end.
