Hello, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what newspaper is available for the year 1882 to look up an obituary? Also, if there is somthing available for this year, is there a library or other facility that would have this newpaper on microfilm, and available for an inter library loan? Thank you, Karen Hillman
The biggest source for Pennsylvania newspapers on microfilm is the PA State Library in Harrisburg. They participate in the Inter-Library Loan program. To access their list: http://www.statelibrary.state.pa.us/libraries/site/default.asp select on <State Library Catalog> under ACCESS SERVICES. A search screen pops up; select on the guided search tab. Enter the key word newspapers in the first box and the location (such as Wyoming County) in the second. Among the results of this search is a listing for the weekly Tunkhannock Republican, from 1869 - 1904. Whether or not the specific issue(s) you need are available cannot be determined from this screen, but at least you can figure what to ask for. Currently the State Library is undergoing some renovations which prohibit access to their collection of newspapers published prior to 1985. That means no I-L-L for the duration of this work for the months of February and March 2003. Hope it helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: <KHILLM@aol.com> To: <PAWYOMIN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, February 23, 2003 11:46 AM Subject: [PAWYOMIN-L] Wyoming County Newspapers > Hello, > > I was wondering if anyone could tell me what newspaper is available for the > year 1882 to look up an obituary?
