Your gr grandmother, Sarah C. (Moore) Dymond is a sister to my gr. grandfather Charles Moore. Their parents are Richard and Sarah both born in NY. I have not been able to verify the parents of Richard although his father is James. The Andestown, Del Co NY census list Columbia Co as the birthplace of Richard. I just can't find any James. If you could shed some light as to how you feel the Moores are from New England I would appreciate the input. I just have not been able to get back far enough Karen

    3. The biggest source for Pennsylvania newspapers on microfilm is the PA State Library in Harrisburg. They participate in the Inter-Library Loan program. To access their list: http://www.statelibrary.state.pa.us/libraries/site/default.asp select on <State Library Catalog> under ACCESS SERVICES. A search screen pops up; select on the guided search tab. Enter the key word newspapers in the first box and the location (such as Wyoming County) in the second. Among the results of this search is a listing for the weekly Tunkhannock Republican, from 1869 - 1904. Whether or not the specific issue(s) you need are available cannot be determined from this screen, but at least you can figure what to ask for. Currently the State Library is undergoing some renovations which prohibit access to their collection of newspapers published prior to 1985. That means no I-L-L for the duration of this work for the months of February and March 2003. Hope it helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: <KHILLM@aol.com> To: <PAWYOMIN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, February 23, 2003 11:46 AM Subject: [PAWYOMIN-L] Wyoming County Newspapers > Hello, > > I was wondering if anyone could tell me what newspaper is available for the > year 1882 to look up an obituary? Surnames: MACK, GULICK, EVERETT, WARNER, BROWN Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ScB.2ACE/1192 Message Board Post: Unidentified Newsclipping - 1892 William MACK, Jr., was born in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, nearly opposite Belvidere, August 2, 1806, being the sixth of a family of thirteen. His father was a native of Pennsylvania. His mother, whose maiden name was Rachel GULICK, was a native of Virginia, near Winchester. March 22, 1832, he was united in marriage to Rachel EVERETT, at Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. They established their home at Richmond, Northamphton County, Pennsylvania, where eight children were born to them. The mother and four children still survive. Brother and Sister MACK were both converted on a New Year's Eve, about two years previous to their marriage, at a cottage prayer meeting. About the year 1867 he, with his family, removed to Tunkhannock, Wyoming County, Pennsylvania, to pursue his business as a carriage manufacturer, at which he worked through the week and filled such appointments as were given him as Local Preacher on Sabbath days. The Methodist Episcopal Church ! was his choice, in which he filled the various positions acceptably up to the time when his eyesight failed him. His license as local preacher was renewed only a few days before his death, which occurred after an illness of about six months, at his home, in Tunkhannock, March 16, 1892. Father MACK, as he was familiarly known, lived an exemplary life, enjoying many precious seasons with the Lord, not only in church services, but would often become happy while engaged in business, astonishing the men who were at work around him by overflowing with laughter and praises to God. As he lived, so he died. His last words were: "Blessed Saviour, come and take me." The funeral services were conducted by his pastor, J. F. WARNER, assisted by the Rev. J. H. BROWN, of the Presbyterian Church.

We are researching our line of Stevens which is taking us into Tunkhannock, Luzerne Co, PA. We are believing that Eliphalet, the elder who was born 1731 and who married Elsie Holloway, the presumed d/o Joseph/Hannah (Soule) Holloway ~ may have had a brother Ebenezer Stevens who married an Elizabeth (?)....might you know of this particular brother of the elder Eliphalet as another son of Ebenezer & Abigail (Lord) Stevens? We believe this particular Ebenezer Stevens may have died pre-1790 as Elizabeth Stevens was in the l790 Tunkhannock, PA census with younger children in her home.....by 1800, this Elizabeth Stevens is gone from the area......and we believe 2 of their children were named "Neze" Stevens and a Weston Stevens, they showing up in that particular 1800 Census ~ Tunkhannock, PA. In your research have you uncovered any Stevens men that for some reason or another didn't fit into elder Eliphalet's family? We anxiously await your response!
