His father's name was Oliver but not the one in Bradford County. I have census information also with the name of Eleanor was Oliver's wife but I have not been able to find of Oliver's parents....a few guesses but nothing else. Perhaps this is a second wife. There are so many Besleys with the same given name (0liver, James, John, Charles). Seems to be an Oliver around every bush. Please contact me through my email address if you would like some of the additional information I have on the Besley's of New York, Pennsylvania and points south and west. I will be more than happy to help. Joyce
WILLIAM HENRY KISHBAUGH was born in WYOMING COUNTY, PA. A decade after the Civil War he moved to Texas where he became a successful house builder in Seguin and Gonzales. In about 1901 he moved to Pasadena California and a few years later to nearby Azusa where he lived out the remainder of his life. This is a transcription of a 1931 newspaper article celebrating his 88th year. . AZUSA CITIZEN IN 88th YEAR W. H. KISHBAUGH , VETERAN OF CIVIL WAR , OBSERVES HIS NATAL DAY, RECEIVING GOOD WISHES FROM FRIENDS. The many friends of W.H. Kishbaugh, pioneer Azusa citizen , were congratulating him a few days ago on having reached his 88th mile-stone on the journey through life, his birthday having occurred on Tuesday, April 21. The day found him in fine health, despite his advanced years, and with a philosophical , cheery outlook on life and well able to take his daily walk to the business district from his home at 629 Angeleno Avenue, for a chat with his friends. He walks erect, his eye is clear and he looks many years younger than the 88 years which Father Time chalked up to him last week. Mr. Kishbaugh was born in Pennsylvania and served four years in the Civil War being one of the three surviving members of that memorable struggle, yet living in Azusa, the other two being J.F. Templeman and Doc Thompson.Mr. Kishbaugh served with the 52nd Volunteer Pennsylvania Infantry and took part in many noted engagements. For many years after coming to Azusa nearly a quarter of a century ago, Mr. Kishbaugh was engaged in carpenter work and has a total of 74 houses to his credit in this city and four in Baldwin Park. He has two children living , Mrs. Kishbaugh passing away here some six years ago. The children are Blanche Easley (Eagen) of Azusa and George Kishbaugh of Hayden, Arizona.

Several of John's and Anna's children are also buried there. In the 1850 Chemung County, NY federal census, there lists what appears to be John's father, Oliver, and his family. John is 13 years old, but the mother is listed as Ellenor. The names of the children match. It looks like John's parents were not married for his birth.

This gives the impression that they were married at some point. There is an Oliver Besley family in the history of Columbia Twp, Bradford County, PA, arriving in 1812, and also a Besley Cemetery. They were part of the founding fathers of that community. I have not made a connection, but have just started searching. Please contact me if you have found any previous ancestors as I am also researching John Besley Stage.
