    3. Seeking evidence regarding James GILCHRIST who was first recognized in York in 1783 on a list of taxables in Cumberland Twp with 102 acres and 7 inhabitants. A James GELCHRIST in 1790 census in "mixed Township on Ancestry census, presumed Berwick/Cumberland from Heritage Quest census, has 5 males less than 16 and 2 females less than 21. A James GILCHREIST found in 1800 census, Franklin Twp, Adams County with 3 sons less than 10, 1 10-15 and two 16-25 plus two females. Names of John, David, Thomas, Archibald, Joseph and Robert are likely sons, perhaps also James. James GATGHRIST/GALGHRIST in Adams in 1810 census but moves to Westmoreland County a few years later. His death occurs in 1823 and burial shows birth in 1744. His wife Mary died in 1829 at age 78, born 1751. She was a FLETCHER, apparent daughter of John and Everinah. A Sally GILCHRIST found married 28 Mar 1809 to Joseph REID, daughter of James, posted Gettysburg Centinel. Age is consistent with females in census.
