I am trying to place two sisters in a White family. According to their descendants, Martha A. White was born in Westmoreland Co PA on 2 May, 1816. Her sister, Jane, was supposedly born in the 1818-1819 time frame. Names of parents are unknown. Martha A White married Hamilton Jefferson Rog(d)gers in Georgetown, Beaver Co PA about 1837. Jane White married James Leech about 1840. No marriage records found for them. They removed to the Pittsburg area of Allegheny Co, PA probably before 1850. I believe that James and Jane White Leech are the family listed on the 1860 Birmingham, Allegheny Co PA census on pg 111. Hamilton J Rogers was an alderman there, he enlisted to serve in the Civil War. Martha died while he was gone He came home and died in 1863. I hope that someone has data on a White family that includes the above Martha and Jane. They probably had other siblings but they are not known to me. Thanks, Bettye
Hi Bettye, I'm interested in what you may learn as I have a Leech connection. I checked my Family Tree Maker files and I don't have a Jane White connected to any James Leech's. At this time I don't think I have all my information in these files and will have to check my paper files. I've been researching my Leech line since the 1970's and exchanged snail mail with Roy Leech a few years before he died. My Leech line comes from: John Leech b. abt. 1735 d. Feb. 26, 1779 Westmoreland Co., Pa. (killed by Indians) and Jean Critchlow b. abt. 1746 d. Aug 28, 1819 Franklin Twp., Westmoreland Co., Pa. Their daughter Mary Leech b. abt. 1762 Cumberland or York Co., Pa. d. Oct 8, 1841 Butler Co., Pa. married to James Critchlow b. Dec. 1754 Cumberland Co., Pa. d. March 2, 1834 Butler Co., Pa. John Leech and Jean Critchlow had 8 children. >From the information I've collected John had 3 brothers - Archibald (I don't believe he had any children), Capt. James Leech (I've never found children for him) and Samuel Leech married to Mary Fleming. Samuel did have children but will need to check my paper files for those. Samuel's line did move to Ohio. I will get back with you after I check my paper files.
