    3. When I first subscribed to Ancestry the census was not indexed. I just learned how to scan with my eyes very quickly and actually kind of enjoyed doing it. Now I can scan a page in a few seconds. I just look for first letter of the name. No need, at least for me, to read the whole name. -----Original Message----- From: Carole B Kammer Sent: Saturday, April 07, 2012 11:45 PM To: PAWESTMO@rootsweb.com Subject: [PAWESTMO] 1940 census I was fortunate in having an exact address for my family in 1940. My family moved to Michigan in 1936 with my older sister and she remembered the address. With that I was able to go to the Steve Morse site (what a wonderful, helpful site) and find the exact ED district. I then went to the Ancestry.com site and inputed the ED district and was able to browse page by page until I found my family. We were warned way ahead of time that the 1940 Census could not be indexed for some time. I just consider us fortunate to be able to access the images, even without indexing. Thank you Ancestry.com. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to PAWESTMO-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
