I was just told this: (As a note of caution, obits posted in the newspaper are copyrighted, and as such are subject to the approval of the publishing newspaper. In the past this approval was refused by the local papers and there was the possibility of a lawsuit against a poster. It was acceptable to post a one-liner for each giving the basic details and where it was published.) So as not to get into any trouble I will just post the names from now on and if anyone wants the whole obit they can contact me.. Sorry I was just trying to be helpful and share.. Barb
How long are the obits copyright protected? Are the obits from 1910 or 1920 still protected? BTW Barb, I thought it was a great idea! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barbara Lorensen" <lllorensen@socket.net> To: <PAWESTMO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 03, 2005 1:13 PM Subject: [PAWESTMO-L] obits notice!! > I was just told this: > > (As a note of caution, obits posted in the newspaper are copyrighted, and as > such are subject to the approval of the publishing newspaper.
