Donald Floyd Short Donald Floyd Short, 71, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Gray Station, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000 at his home. A son of James L. and Annabelle Kesner Short, he was born Nov. 28, 1928, in Gray Station. He was of the Catholic faith. He graduated from Derry High School. Prior to retirement in 1987, he was an agent for the Internal Revenue Service for 35 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary Helen Balch Short; three sons, Christopher Short and his wife, Carol, of North New Portland, Maine, Lawrence Short and his wife, Pamela, of Gray Station and Bruce Short of Coraopolia; a daughter, Marilyn Mader of Squirrel Hill; and three grandsons, Alexander, Zachery and Maxwell Short. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James L. Short Jr. and a sister, Annabelle Short. A graveside service was held Saturday in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, with Father Chester J. Raimer officiating. The Richard L. Shoemaker Funeral Home , 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, was in charge of arrangements. ============================================================================ James Kearney Short James Kearney Short, 69 of Derry died Thursday Jan. 21, 1999 in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born June 8, 1929, in Derry, a son of the late James K. and Anna Gamble Short. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, and formerly owned and operated Laurel Environment Service Inc. and Short's Corner in Peanut. He was a member of Derry Rod & Gun, Derry American Legion, Ligonier VFW and the Kingston Club. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra L. Queer Short, on Sept. 4, 1993. He is survived by his daughters, Mrs. Michael (Dawn Ann) Treylinek of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Lisa J. Short of Derry and Aimee L. Short of Morgantown, W. Va., a granddaughter, Taylor; a brother, Andrew F. Short and his wife Carol of Derry; and two sisters, Anna Marie Snoddy of Indianapolis, Ind.; and Mrs. Albert (Kathryn) Fox of Hendersonville, Tenn. Memorial services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Ave. Derry, with the Rev. David D. Wilson Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oncology Department of Latrobe Area Hospital. ====================================================================== Mildred A. Short Mildred A. Short, 58 of Bolivar RD 1 died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1997 in Lee Hospital, Johnstown. She was born Nov. 30, 1938 in New Florence, a daughter of the late Walter P. and Sarah L. (Steffey) Muir. She was a member of First Church of Christ, West Bolivar, and a volunteer for the American Heart Association. She retired from Torrance State Hospital, where she was a psychiatric Aide. in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles H. Short, in April 1996. She is survived by her children, Carrie Anne and her husband Patrick Oliver, of New Florence RD 2, Eddie L. and his wife, Deborah Lindsey, of Bolivar RD 1, and Cory Hilton Short at home; grandsons, Joseph and Joshua Short; and the following brothers and sisters; Robert and wife, Martha Muir, of Orlando, Fla., Gladys and husband, Sam Yeager of New Florence RD 2, Shirley and husband James Dranzik of Greensburg, Denver and wife, Frances Muir, of Melrose Park, Ill. Leroy and wife Joan Muir of Portage, Harriet and husband, Dennis Payne of New Florence RD 2 and Harry Muir of New Florence RD 2. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence. Service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Church of Christ, West Bolivar with the Rev. Gabriel G. Mraz officiating. Interment in Germany Lutheran Cemetery.
