    3. Zurick, Edward J. Zurick Edward J. Zurick 57, of 1927 Forbes Ave. Pittsburgh, formerly of Wilpen, died Saturday July 19, 1980 in Veterans Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born Nov. 17, 1922 in Wilpen, a son of the late John and Anna Kovatch Zurick. He was a World War II U. S. Army veteran and was a retired Barber. He was also a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert in 1973 and Anthony in 1979. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. D. Jerry (Marcella) Elam of Allison Park; nine sisters, Mrs. George (Betty) Oswald and Mrs. Teresa Polasky, both of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Gilbert (Agnes) Short of Latrobe, Mrs. (Mary) Fluxman of New York, Mrs. Anna Mae Mellett of Library, Mrs. Robert (Eva Jane) Dale of Sewickley, Mrs. Rose Marie LaRue of Johnstown, and Mrs. Donald (Joanna) Harr and Mrs. Michael (Susanna) Piepock, both of Ligonier, three grandchildren; and several Nieces and nephews. Zurick--Friends of Edward J. Zurick 57, of 1927 Forbes Ave. Pittsburgh, formerly of Wilpen, who died Saturday July 19, 1980 will be received at the Howards McCabe Funeral Home, 244, West Main St. Ligonier, Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.; A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wilpen, Wednesday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors. Members of Ligonier VFW will meet in the funeral home Monday at 7:30 to conduct services. ================================================================= Short, Alfred (Joseph Alfred) Alfred Short (Joseph Alfred Short) 99, a resident for many years of St. Anne's Home, Greensburg, died Thursday morning. Born Oct. 6, 1877, in Ligonier, he was the son of the late Peter and Barbara Bridge Short. He had been a carpenter by trade. Surviving are two sons; George and Thomas of Michigan; one daughter, Mrs. Helen Lewis of Pittsburgh; 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Michael J. Quinlisk Funeral Home, Derry. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Saturday in St. Martin Church, New Derry with the Rev. Method Mraz, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. ================================================================ Kahl, Edward C. Kahl Edward C. Kahl 78 of 116 West Third St. Derry died Tuesday Sept. 22, 1981 in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pa. He was born Jan. 3, 1903, in Latrobe a son of the late Charles and Anna Kahl. He was a retired mill operator for Derry Westinghouse. He was a member of the FOE Latrobe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen McWilliams Kahl in 1978. Surviving are a son, Charles H. of Latrobe; a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Ila) Daniels of Forbes Road; four brothers William and Charles both of Latrobe, Raymond of Bradenville and Joseph of Blairsville; and six grandchildren. Kahl--Friends of Edward C. Kahl 78, of 116 West Third St. Derry who died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1981 will be received at the Michael J. Quinlisk Funeral Home, 548 North Chestnut St. Derry from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral Home with the Rev. Charles F. Olsen officiating. Short 67, of Slickville RD 1, died Thursday, Sept. 10, 1981 at her twin-sister's home in Blairsville. She was born in Derry Twp. Sept. 19, 1913, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Catherine E. Murphy Short. She was a member of St. Sylvester Church of Slickville. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leo Short and Regis Short. Surviving are a twin-sister, Mrs Joseph (Ann) Kahl of Blairsville; two other sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Agnes) Pagnotta of Latrobe RD 4 and Mrs. Virgil (Ida) Shirey of Cleveland, Ohio; five brothers, Joseph Short, Gilbert A. Short and Paul A. Short, all of Latrobe, John A. Short of Hostetter and Clarence P. Short of Bradenville; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the John J. Lopatch Funeral Home 601 Weldon St. Latrobe from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday in St. Sylvester Church of Slickville. Short Mrs. Josephine M. Short, 80 of 123 Ave. D, Latrobe died Tuesday, May 3, 1983, at her daughter's home (Mrs. Rebecca Stewart). Born in Whitney Nov. 24, 1902, she was a daughter of the late Oliver and Anna Aukerman Schmucker. She was a member of Holy Family Church, the Rosary Society and the Altar Society. Her husband, Leo E. Short, preceded her in death Jan. 21, 1979. She is survived by one son, Richard E. of Latrobe; one daughter, Mrs. Michael P. (Rebecca A.) Stewart of Latrobe; nine grandchildren; three brothers, Joseph Schmucker of Lawson Heights, Robert Schmucker of Latrobe, RD 1 and Paul Schmucker of Latrobe RD 4; three sisters, Mrs. (Eldoro) Keeno of Meadville, Mrs. Clara Zimmerman of Greensburg and Mrs. Agnes Bridge of Latrobe RD 2. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday in John J. Lopatich Funeral Home, Latrobe. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Holy Family Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Members of Latrobe Volunteer Fire Department will meet at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home to pay their respects. Rosary Society of Holy Family Church will meet at 3 p.m. Friday in the funeral home to recite the Rosary.
