Hi list, I'm interested in the families that migrated from Northampton Co., PA to Westmoreland Co., PA. Is anyone else doing research on a family that migrated before 1790? Has a book been written about these families? When (what year) did these families arrive in Westmoreland Co., PA & why? Did they come as a group? Where they all of the same religious or ethnic background? What are their surnames? Mine are MUFFLEY - YOCKEY - CHRIST. Did they all immigrate to Northampton Co. from the same area in Europe, then onto Westmoreland Co.? Where they all on the same ship coming from Europe? What do we know about these families? Is anyone interested in sharing info on their Northampton Co. to Westmoreland Co. families? Maybe, if we all got together on this subject & share our thoughts & ideas we might find more out about them! :D Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS)
The Brinkers came from Monroe Co. around 1790 or so, along with the Weiss/Wise family . Also from Monroe was one Learn who settled in Bell Twp. The Yockeys & Muffleys were also in Monroe Co. too. The Nelich/Neligh family settled in Penn Twp., with Brinkers in Penn and Unity. There are many others, such as Barnharts in Hempfield twp., who came from near Allentown. I believe the Lauffers were also in Northampton/Lehigh before Westmoreland. This just scratches the surface!
