It was through a DNA project that we found out: The Linhart and Lenhart surnames in 1790 in Westmoreland Co., PA, come from two different progenerators. The Linharts came over from Germany in 1749. The Lenharts came over from Germany in 1748. According to the DNA results, their is no comparison between the two surname results. Hopefully, another Linhart descendant will volunteer to have a DNA test so we can confirm the Linhart result. DNA has helped separate the two families. (I honestly thought they shared an ancestor, but not so far). Are there any Linharts on this list willing to do this? PLease contact me to get the address of the lab that did our tests.
