    1. WESTMORELAND COUNTY LAND SALES
    2. Asking again for some helpful ideas on finding any record of the sale of my John Cummings's Westmoreland land about 1816. I have copies of the original Application, Warrant, Survey and Land Patent, dated 29 April 1816, granted my GGGGrandfather, John Cummings, when he formally purchased the 131 Westmoreland Co. acres the family had been living on for 20 years. Their land straddled today's South Huntingdon and East Huntingdon Twp., just north of Jacobs Creek. John then moved his small family to Franklin Co., Indiana, later that year. My assumption is he sold his land in 1816, or shortly thereafter, to finance the relocation. Hopefully, the documents for that sale might identify or provide some clues to other family members in the area. I made an attempt to go through the deed books during a visit to Greensburg. I couldn't find anything in the time available, but I did verify the current owners of the land. My interest is in finding who my John Cummings sold his land to, and I am willing to pay for a deed search if someone knows who I could contact. Would really appreciate some suggestions.
