Hello, I have done some more research and realize that in the older censuses for the SKEMP family (versus the newer ones), they state that they were naturalized c. 1894 (and not c. 1912 . big jump there!) . If I am remembering correctly, you had to be in the country 5 years to become a citizen . since they emigrated in 1887 and 1888 this would work! So, if someone lived in Scottdale, where would they possibly have gotten Naturalized? Since we are now pre-1906, my recollection is that I cannot use a FOI request as the records are only at whatever courthouse issued the papers! TIA for any help! Happy Labor Day weekend!
