Was at the Archives in Wash. D.C. last year. Get there early as it takes all day. First you go through the security check, all metal things in a basket, then you have to get an ID tag to go around your neck, which you leave there each time you exit, then it was way to the back of the first floor to the " Civil War microfilm, half of the readers didn't work, then you copy that info on a form and go back out and put it in a basket where it gets picked up every hour. We put ours in at 10:30. You have several hours to wait, so go have lunch, they have a snack shop in the basement, but we went to a nice place across the street from the Archives. Before you can get to the second floor, where your records will be, you have to have a photo ID taken(good for one year) you'll enter your info in a computer. You cannot take your coat, jacket, etc. or purse to the second floor, no pencil or papers, they provide them once your up there. So everything goes into a locker, which costs 25 cents. Finally you get to the second floor, then you wait until they call your name and give you the info. It was 3:00 until we got ours and they close at 4:30, we went back the next day// Also have lot's of dollar bills with you for the photocopying machines. So get there early and have fun/ Marlene **************Get fantasy football with free live scoring. Sign up for FanHouse Fantasy Football today.
