I'm filing it in my Westmoreland folder. I swear, I can't find anything at the LDS since they got rid of the lovely microfiche and insist it's all on the computer. But I can't find it. If I run across others, I'll type it for the list. My dad went with my grandpap to Latrobe to help him find an old man who knew of grandpap's birth, but the old man couldn't remember. Dad said grandpap was rather perturbed. Thank goodness the censuses were available and he was on the 1900 census with his parents, otherwise grandpap might not have gotten his SS pension. But I don't think he ever succeeded in getting his Delayed Birth Certificate. My dad didn't either in OK. He was on the 1910 census with his parents, so he was able to prove his age that way. My Aunt Adelaide had to use school records to prove her birth. This is what was in Cousin Ada Moore Malloy's file. "Delayed birth certificate, pg 123, Orphan Court's Special Registration of Delayed Birth Certificate, Greensburg, Westmoreland Co., PA, vol. 19, p. 123. Affadavits signed by Alexander Moore, RD #1, Latrobe; Mary E. Hill, RD 1, Latrobe; Emma M. Stiffler, RD 1, Bolivar, PA. 16 May, 1952." Really, this is a great file. As you can see, it will have letters from relatives attesting to this and that. Shirley Maynard Hampton, VA **************Gas prices getting you down? Search AOL Autos for fuel-efficient used cars.
