The Session Books exists back to the beginning in 1836, but no other business or religious records from the earlier periods are known except for lists of members. The Session Book does not give the type of information you are referring to. I do not know where I obtained the marriage date. I thought it might have been the History of Allegheny County, but I have a copy here and it is not in there. For years I have been collecting genealogical information on persons buried in the Cross Roads Cemetery, and I obtained info from many sources. At the moment, I do not know where my notes are, been a long time since I got involved with this. The info I presented on the Maxwells and Grahams came from my booklet on the Monroeville area genealogical history I issued fully 22 years ago (1986). Very few copies exist, but the DAR Library in Washington, DC does have a copy. Perhaps much of the info is outdated by now, what with the computer age. Christopher Graham and family are mostly buried in the Cross Roads Cemetery, but I know nothing about his parents or siblings other than Agnes. By the way, in addition to Agnes, there were likely two other daughters, Mary Ann and Eliza Jane. I know nothing more about them. By the way, the 1984 cemetery survey of the Historical Section lists the stones of Hugh and Agnes as "worn but readable". I do not know about now. If I can remember, I will look next time I drive up that way. Mary Ann and Eliza Jane were daughters of Hugh and Agnes Maxwell. Mary Ann married Isaac McCauley and is buried in Braddock. Elizabeth (Eliza) Jane married Charles Taylor and is buried in Homewood Cemetery. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, April 26, 2008 3:22 PM Subject: Re: [PAWESTMO] Crossroads Presbyterian Cemetery, Monroeville, PA > The Session Books exists back to the beginning in 1836, but no other > business or religious records from the earlier periods are known except > for > lists of members. I would like to note with many thanks the tremendous effort put forth by Ellis Michaels, a frequent contributor to this Board. He had "finished" placing the records of the Crossroads Presbyterian Church Cemetery online back in April, and announced to all of us that it was completed. Unfortunately, at the time he did not realize that he was not using the current records of the cemetery, and had to use information from the stones. In early May, I gave him access to the current records of the cemetery, and he obliged by re-doing much of his initial effort. He is finished!. Even though this cemetery is in Allegheny County, it is on the border of Westmoreland, and a large portion of the families buried there are from the early farms of nearby Westmoreland County. Congrats, Ellis! Job well-done! Ellis, could you please call me again so we can do the transfer of records. I would also like to thank Jack N. for providing the husbands names of two daughters of Hugh Maxwell.
I was wondering if anyone on the list is connected to William Graham in PA. He was born about 1795 in Ireland, son of John and Ann Morrow Graham. William married Agnes and had a daughter Margaret Jane Graham (abt 1831-March 28, 1904. Margaret married John Burroughs. Mary
My great-great-great-grandparents (John and Ann Morrow Graham) came to what is now Monroeville in 1828 from County Down, Ireland. John died in 1830 and I do not know where he was buried. I do not know where Ann is buried. They brought four sons with them in 1828: James, John, Christopher and William. Their daughter and son-in-law, Agnes and Hugh Maxwell, joined them two years later. Agnes and Hugh were among the charter members of Crossroads PC and are buried there. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mary & Russ Henry" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, June 24, 2008 1:18 PM Subject: Re: [PAWESTMO] Crossroads Presbyterian Cemetery, Monroeville, PA >I was wondering if anyone on the list is connected to William Graham in PA. > He was born about 1795 in Ireland, son of John and Ann Morrow Graham. > William married Agnes and had a daughter Margaret Jane Graham (abt > 1831-March 28, 1904. My records (some dating back to Bible entries and family interviews back in the 1960's) show John and Ann's son William born in Ireland in 1801 and dying in 1883. They also show him marrying Nancy McChesney born in Ireland in 1803 and dying in 1885. I show one son, John G., born of this marriage in 1833, who married Susannah Errett: Eight children came from this marriage: 1. Sarah Agnes (m. William Naser) 2. Mary Martha Jane 3. Adam Errett 4. Elizabeth Elenor Leonora 5. James Michael 6. Annie Alice 7. David John 8. William Brown I know that the above differs from the information in your message to the list (below). What do you think?
