The little I've looked for Lemmon, I've discovered it most likely was LeMoyne. I have not found any connection of Lemmon to my Covode family, except locations of their homesteads in Westmoreland County. I think the relationship was to the HILL family where the first to Westmoreland Co. was Orange Hill, born 21 May, 1782, in Mass. His father was Asa HILL and his mother Lucy ENSIGN, of the Hartford, CT first families. Catherine Lint Sholey (Mrs. Lewis Shoup) had 1 son with, George Michael Sholey/various spellings (Cyrus John Sholey) and John married Sarah Agnes Hill, daughter of George and granddaughter of Orange Hill. Looking at my data base, however, I don't find a Lemon Hill, so I may be wrong. I wonder, however, if Sarah Jane Shaulis who married William Bell Shoup and was the mother of Lemon Shoup, may have had connections to the LEMONs, however. Sarah Jane's parents were Frederick and Mary Ann Shaulis. I have Jefferson, Somerset Co. for both of them. I didn't carry research forward for the SHAULIS family.
