Sent by Nancy Moore Keir Latrobe Bulletin, Tuesday, May 7, 1946: Doctor William D. Hunter Suddenly, at his home in Monessen, yesterday morning, occurred the death of Doctor William D. Hunter, who had practiced medicine in that city for forty-two years. He was a brother of Thomas B. Hunter, of Latrobe, and of George A. Hunter, formerly of Laughlintown, now of Stahlstown. He was born in Derry Township the son of James and Martha Bailey Hunter, on October 21, 1870. After completing his course in medicine he located in Monessen, where he became very active in civic circles. He served for many years as councilman in that city. In the first World War Dr. Hunter served with the rank of major. He was on the firing line in France for some time and later was located in a base hospital. He was thirty-second degree Mason. His wife preceded him in death some years ago. Surviving are four sons John, in the Navy, Robert, Francis and Lester, all of Monessen. He resided at the corner of Reed Street and Sixth Avenue. Endeavors are being made to get his son home.
