Hello-- I hope this is of interest. There were people with the surname of Shupe who lived on Appel Mill Road in Sounth Huntingdon Twp of Westmoreland Co from the early 1800s. Others in the area were Funk, Zumbro, Waggoner, Lash. I am not related to any of those lines. I visited the Appel Mill Church Cemetery a few years ago. I believe there were still Shupes living in the area. --Jack Trauth In a message dated 10/24/2011 10:49:50 A.M. We really don't match. Mine arrived from Prussia (Germany) sometime between his birth in Feb. 1818 and when I first found Ludwig Shoup with his new bride living in a Derry shantytown next to the PA RR. In the 1860 Ligonier federal census, his wife, two children and a 73 year old man, Henry Shoub, were with him. I assume Henry was Ludwig/Louis' elderly father. Not too far away was a John Shoub with children and a son named Henry. I assume he was Ludwig/Louis Shoup's brother. Lewis/Louis/:Ludwig Shoup/Shoub appeared for the last time in the 1900 census with son William Bell Shoup and wife and 7 children. If there is a relationship, it must be back in Prussia. That's a shame. Shirley

Some one on this list once asked me about any knowledge of a Wise/Brindle relationship. I have recently learned of a Wise will in ?York County? that indicates that Henry Wise, Silversmith/Clockmaker, of Greensburg, PA was the sister of Mary Wise who was married to a Brindle. I have only recently returned to researching this Wise line. This may indicate why Henry Wise was guardian to the Brindle children at the death of their father in Westmoreland County, PA. tullycross2@comcast.net

You can look at a different version of the image freely as all of the NARA census microfilms have been digitized (courtesy of the Allen County, IN, Library) and placed on the Internet Archive: http://www.archive.org I've created guides to help you find the reel you want and connect to it. My guides are at http://Guides.DonsList.net Shirley, it would be helpful if you posted the Reel number and the "Sheet number" printed on the census page. This latter may be the "image 64" or maybe not.
