It took a few minutes to figure out the site, but was worth the effort. Charles B. Crusan was the unmarried son of John D. Crusan and grandson of Garret Crusan. He was 21 years old when he died at the home of his parents in Pittsburgh. No cause of death listed. Greensburg Daily Tribune, 17 Aug. 1898, page 1, column 4 Robert Crusan had only a death notice. He was 71 and died Friday, in Crabtree. Greensburg Daily Tribune, 9 Dec. 1899, page 1, column 3. Because of BigStick's kindness I copied the Death Roll for those two days to post online for others. Two may actually be mine, as well. GRAY and McMASTERS. They will be in separate messages. Shirley
Does anyone have a subscription to the newspaper archives of the Indiana Gazette Or access to the paper through a local library? I'm looking for an article about someone in Bolivar, PA named Mundorff that said a Sarah Mundorff was an Indian. Thanks Barb Lorensen
Thank you for the information on the Abbatticho's. It was apparently one of the names that you find with many spellings. I believe this is indeed the Mary I was looking for. I copied the full link and paste it in a word doc. Then, remove the < and change the page to Landscape. This gives you the full link. It is especally nice because when I saved the web page to a pdf all of the link to the web pages still work. And, I was able to increase the size to 200% making it easier to read. That is when I realized I don't have any idea what is on the form. When you say it say It it tells where it is filed? Is there a section of the court house in Westmoreland that has all these documents? I am new at reseaching PA, Hopefully, you will bear with while learn. Now I understand. Say you found someone you think is your relative on a Warrant Register page, note under the Survey Column, where it says, Survey Copied To, note down the numbers there. Could look something like: B-1-34 or B1 34. Survey Book B-1 page 34 is what it is showing. Go to back to the page where you found the Warrant Registers link. Chose the link for Copied Survey Books. Find which column shows your book number. Choose that link. Once there, chose the book number with the page number. That will show you what the tract of land looked like. It can be tricky but once you get the hang of it, it will be very rewarding. Under the column that says Where Recorded, note the Volume, Number, and Page. These are trickier but you would go back to the main page where you found the link for the Warrant Registers, but choose the Patent Registers Link. You will have to really study that page. Leave that for tomorrow. :] Marie. -----Original Message----- From: pawestmo-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:pawestmo-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Deloris Girard Sent: Thursday, January 26, 2012 7:50 PM To: pawestmo@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PAWESTMO] Westmoreland Map I copied the full link and paste it in a word doc. Hi, In searching my Stillwagons who lived in Greensburg in the 1800s, I checked the Westmoreland Co website and found a marriage license dated 6/13/1898 between Edward R. Stillwagon and Mary Abbatticho. After searching, I cannot find any other family with the Abbatticho name. Is anyone familiar with this name or have any suggestions as to where I can look? Thank you. Assuming your question pertains to the link you sent and not each individual register page, what you want to do is look at all the pages for the letter that pertains to the surname of the ancestors that settled in Westmoreland Co. If you find your ancestors or names that you think might be related, save those pages as pdfs on your computer. Under the survey column on each page you'll find what the survey map book and page number is. You'll also find who patented the land and the patent book and page number. These are additional web pages you will want to check: Copied Survey Books Patent Indexes Marie. -----Original Message----- From: pawestmo-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:pawestmo-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Deloris Girard Sent: Thursday, January 26, 2012 6:15 PM To: PAWESTMO@rootsweb.com Subject: [PAWESTMO] Warrant Register -seeking help http://www.phmc.state.pa.us/bah/dam/rg/di/r17-88WarrantRegisters/Westmorelan dPages/r17-88WestmorelandPageInterface.htm Now I really need help. I followed this link to pages of warrantee land. However, I tried to read the top labels for the columns. The letters blended together. Do any one know where I could get a blank copy that has readable labels? Apparently there were several families of CRUSANs by time I started researching Sterret William CRUSAN, married to Viola Adessa MOORE, about 1885. Robert Crusan. was born 20 Aug. 1825 and died 31 Aug. 1872. Emily had to have been pregnant or had just delivered a child because on the 1880 census, she had 8 year old Robert and 7 year old Harry Crusan, along with older children. Then there is this: It is probably my Robert, but the birth date is wrong and I'm not sure of Benjamin, unless this was Robert Benjamin. Family Data Collection - Individual Records Record about Robert Crusan Name: Robert Crusan Parents: Benjamin Crusan , Mary Kier Birth Place: PA Birth Date: 1821 Robert had several children.
