    3. We were told last year you would not be able to do a search for about a year. They said once they had in hand they would start indexing. IN the meantime you just have to muddle through. 3. I was told that it would be about 10 days before you can call Ancestry with an exact address. My point is that we should have been told there would be no searchable data base until the end of the year. Glad I don't need 1940. I am a volenter for Beaver Co. PA tax records so I don't have time to do 1940. Linda On Apr 2, 2012, at 12:11 PM, Alissa wrote: > Linda, > Ancestry is adding images as soon as possible. 3. Linda, Ancestry is adding images as soon as possible. You can currently get the EDs from Ancestry, stevemorse.org and other sites if you know the 1930 ED and/or the 1940 address. I've done it. NARA has uploaded all the images but it is currently overloaded. I have been processing one ED for hours and it is still preparing the image. But they are available today. Myheritage.com is also uploading different states today but not yet. Ancestry has Delaware and Nevada completely uploaded and are working on others. You can see the progress on this page. You need to scroll down a bit and it is on the left. Last I heard they were planning on having all images uploaded within 2 weeks. You can put in a request on their 1940 page to have them email you when your state(s) is(are) uploaded. http://search.ancestry.com/search/db.aspx?dbid=2442 Of course, they need to be indexed. There are many groups indexing and hope to have that accomplished within the year. You can join us by going to FamilySearch.org or other sites like 1940census.archives.gov. BTW they do not appear to be going in either size order or by date joined the Union. Hope this helps. 3. I just saw somewhere that Delaware is the first state being released and that it will take up to a couple months until all the states are released. I suspect that they are going to release them in the order of the states joining the union. It's just a hunch. Why else would they start with a state like Delaware? 3. I do not understand the complaining about the 1940 census availability. It was well publicised that the actual images would not be available from NARA; that, as in the past with previous census releases, it is left to outside organizations to do the actual transcribing. For those that have the time and interest in getting the 1940 census transcribed and online, you can volunteer to do transcribing on the FamilySearch.org website. Regards, Bettye

    3. TWIMC, I am a descendant of Lawrence Queer of Somerset county. I believe that he first married Anna Boyer about 1785. I am pretty sure they had three children , Adam, Michael and Anna (church baptismal records for Adam and Michael). Anna, Lawrence's first wife, must have died and Lawrence married Rebecca Shallus about 1793, They had several children and remained in Somerset county the rest of their lives. Lawrence and Rebecca's first child is thought to have been Peter b. abt. 1795. Peter married Elizabeth Fisher. They moved to Fayette county and by 1850 were in Donegal Twp in Westmoreland.county. They were both illiterate. I have not found much information about the Queer Family. Best I can tell I am a descendant of Michael and Elizabeth (?) Queer through their daughter, Mary b.1831 m. Samuel Brooks and their daughter, Elizabeth Brooks. Michael died shortly before his father, Lawrence, who died in Somerset co. in 1847. Peter is the most prominent and possibly earliest Queer in Westmoreland co. If anyone runs across this family I'd be interested in the information. Gerald V. Hi, Are there many Lutheran church records still available? ?I'm specifically looking for records from about 1780 to 1840, and the church I most see in my research is called Denmark Manor Lutheran Church in Penn Township. ?I appreciate any information possible. ?Although I've been at this for several decades, I haven't dealved much into church records, other than the churches I was already familiar with, but it appears that I'm going to need that aspect with my Pennsylvania ancestors! Bill, The Lutheran archive used by my church in Armstrong Co is Thiel College in Greenville. Today it is a liberal arts collage, but in former years it was a Lutheran seminary.
