I am researching David Miller b. c1744, md. Deborah Zook (d/o Peter Zug), migrated to Nelson Co., Ky. in 1796, d. 1848 Marion Co., Ky. David was in West Bethlehem Twp., Washington Co., Pa. at least 1788 to 1794. He had 1789 warrant for 95 acres on Ten Mile Cr. that was passed on to William Miller in 1792, to Isaac Miller in 1797 and to James Hill in 1809. This property was adjoined by that of Joseph Hill, Neal Gillespy, Edward Dorsey, Adam Weaver and nearby was Abraham Hartman, Thomas McKibben and Henry Hartsock. It seems that many of the families in this area were of Brethren faith and came out of Maryland. I am trying to better understand these and other neighboring families (Leatherman, Wise, Beatty, Spohn, Feester, Grable, Redd) and determine exactly where they came from, hoping to find further connections to my David Miller and to figure out who his parents could have been. In this regard, I plan to summarize and post what I know about these families (one at a time) and solicit input to gain further understanding. Perhaps it can benefit others that are chasing some of these families. Continuing with these families, I next have Edward Dorsey. I have him with land next to my David Miller on Ten Mile Creek which was surveyed and patented 1786. I don't find him on 1790 nor 1800 census in West Bethlehem. Did the family leave Washington Co.,Pa. before 1790? Were they Brethren? I have a couple versions of Edward Dorsey in Maryland per Ancestry.com: (1) born 1740 in Anne Arundel Co., Md. s/o Col. Nicholas Dorsey with wife Sarah Todd and (2) born 1794 s/o Edward Dorsey with wives Sarah Cumming and Ann Moody Boyd and died 1824 in Washington Co., Ky., a son is shown with birthplace of Frederick Co., Md. Anyone know which version goes with the Edward Dorsey in Washington Co., Pa.? I have a 1755 Frederick Co., Md. deed wherein Jacob Miller son and heir of Abraham Miller sold tract "Resurvey of Miller's Chance" to Edward Dorsey of Annapolis. Anyone know who this Abraham Miller was? Did the Washington Co., Pa. Edward Dorsey go to Ky.? Where, when, etc.? Dear Katy, Don't be too sure that no one wanted it. I know of a Bible that I discovered in the Uniontown library that I immediately recognized as the direct family of a friend of mine in another state. Those people came here to see that Bible & the man had absolutely no idea how it got out of the family & there. It was to go to his mother & he'd have paid good money to have it back but of course the library had it, for some reason didn't know who placed it there but now it was in their care. He has now died but at least he obtained photocopies of the important family pages & knew it was going to be well cared for. Ellen (ETHS)

Gosh Ellen, this is so weird, I was just thinking about you this morning!!!!! Even went on the Elizabeth Historical site!! Yes, maybe I was generalizing a bit too much. Dawne did a good thing posting the information on the internet, maybe someone will recognize some of these familys and contact her. One time I was looking through the abstract of my home, and going back I learned alot about the original owners of this land, I went online and found a person in Florida looking for this family, so I sent them what information I had found here in this town. I have ran across the same situation on Bibles and family photographs. It amazes me that family's let these things go to auctions and thrift stores. I have a funeral record of a man who married my grandmother (second husband) and tryed to find someone in his family who might want it, so far no one has replyed to my offer. One of these days maybe someone will get interested and reply. My thought is if it gets to the point of being in an auction or antique shop, no one wanted it to start with, or the survivor was the last of the line. At least you have posted this online, and maybe one of these days someone will see it and possibily want it. I have recieved the suggestion that I should return the autograph album to the family of the lady who owned the book. I just wanted to say that this was bought at the family auction, so apparently no one in the family wanted it. I do not advocate selling off family heirlooms and as some of you may know I helped re unite a family Bible with the family it belonged to earlier this year. I have Sarah (middle name possibly Anna) Brenneman abt 1794/5 - 3 Sep 1884 md to John Peter Uber abt 1795 - 1858 with eight children the youngest of whom was named Jacob Brenneman Uber 10 Feb 1839. John Peter Uber's parents were from Northampton Co, PA then moved to and died in Hempfield Twp, Westmoreland Co, PA. I have some information on the descendants of this family but no other information about Sarah Brenneman. I would be interested in exchanging information. My stepdad Robert Ross had relative in Green county, PA named Dunswiler, I think it was and she was related to some Crow people. She was a school teacher and wrote about them in great detail. Hi I was hoping someone might be able to check on my Parmenas Crow(e) who I think is burried in the Forks of the Brandywine Presbyterian Church cemetery. I have one source that tells me Parmenas was a Revolutionary War soldier burried 12/6/1854 and is next to his wife Christina R. Crow 2/15/1812 - 10/17/1880, and another has Parmenas Crow died 12/2/1851 and burried next to his wife Jane 2/1/1780 - 3/19/1845. Thanks
