I am guessing you want a list of the Westmoreland County Hospitals This is from the 1917 Polk's Medical Directory and the I am also checking the 1933 Directory of American and Canadian Hospitals. Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg, established 1895. Latrobe Hospital, in Latrobe, established 1910. Mount Pleasant Memorial Hospital, established 1902. Citizens General Hospital, New Kensington, opened in 1912. Torrance State Hospial, established in 1919. This was a state hospital for the treatment of mental and nervous disorders. In 1917, there is one physician listed in Yukon, Howard B. Emerson No one is listed in Wyano. Quite often operations were performed in the home. There is an article in the American Journal of Nursing which explains how the nurse was sent to the home to prepare the room and the patient for the surgery. The anesthetics at that time were usually chloroform or ether. There were no antibiotics. People were usually kept in bed 10 days or so after surgery which made them more prone to pneumonia and blood clots. This is the first time I have written to this list. Vivian and Clarence Neal lived in Westmorland Co. during the 1950-70s and maybe longer. Really hope to connect with children or grandchildren from this family because we are cousins on the Replogle side. Elaine Bartlebaugh-Schenk schenk.bartlebaugh@wanadoo.nl -------Original Message------- From: E Schenk Subject: [INDIANA] Replogle, Sundberg, Neal, Thanks to all the people that sent me information on the Replogle family. It has opened several interesting trails to follow. I found Spencer family in the Decker/ Bloom info and that Is my Aunt Nola Spencer Brandon married to my Dad's half brother Pressley Brandon. First I want to find out more about Vivial Neal and hope I can find some living family. Last week I asked about a Replogle cousin who had written a letter back in 1950 givings us information on the Replogle line. It differs with the net info that most Replogles are passing on. I have been able to find out more about the writer of the letter. Vivian was born in Sagamore, Pa. and my mother also about the same age, grew up in Sagamore. Surprise and interesting that they might have know each other as Sagamore was not very big. I appreciated any information and hope to find some of the younger generation from this family. Thank you to all those who responded with info. Each one of you provided parts to the puzzle of questions that I was seeking answers to. It goes to show where each of us is in our research and what experiences we have had in our research to help provide resources to others. I have done extensive research in Cambria County over the past 6 years and have been there every summer. I have been subscribed to the Cambria list for all of those years and they have also been very helpful. Now it is a matter of trying to tie up the loose ends and fill in the open holes of the family tree. Who knows I may be back with another question. Thank you again for all your help and info. Sharon
I found Jacob and Martha in Bullskin Twp., Fayette County in 1850. (p. 445) Jacob is 63 and Martha is 62. They are living with the family of John and Catherine Smith. John Smith is a shoemaker. Is John a son in law? The Chestnut Ridge Historical Society has some Traugh Family information-what exactly are you looking for? Do you know what church the Welshons were affiliated with? There might be some information there. Also the DAR genealogical library in Mt. Pleasant may be able to help.
