    1. STARK FAMILY
    2. james miller
    3. STARK FAMILY There were two Stark lines that I am aware of: One originated from Gottlieb Stark, who immigrated from Germany. He had a wagon-building business on W. Pittsburgh St. in Greensburg near where the BP station now stands. His son John F. Stark, was in business with him and was the father of two sons: H. Frank Stark and Cyrus N. Stark. Frank and Cyrus were partners in Stark Brothers Construction, a Greensburg firm. Another Stark line originated with John ADAM Stark, another German immigrant from Wittenberg, where he learned the wagon-building trade. He settled on W. Otterman St and had a carriage-building business in back of his home, which sat on the N.W. corner of Otterman & Pennsylvania Sts. in Greensburg. John ADAM Stark married Charlotte Holser and they had 11 children, 2 of whom were still alive in 1890, Caleb H. and George. I am not related to any of these people. My interest stems from a study of Greensburg industry and the Stark’s involvement in the carriage\wagon building business. Does anyone on the list know whether the 2 immigrants, John ADAM Stark, and Gottlieb Stark, were related? ********************** jim miller/621 grove st ********************** greensburg pa 15601

    1. Frank Abraham Ferry b1878
    2. M Little
    3. Is anyone researching the FERRY (sometimes transcribed as FURRY) families in Westmoreland? I have a FRANK ABRAHAM FERRY who married into one of my lines that I am trying to track down. According to his 1908 marriage license, he was born in Ligonier (does not specify town or township or county) on November 24 1878, and his first marriage (to person unknown) ended on August 19 1906 with the wife's death. His second marriage was to LINDA NEWBURY COLEBOURN. They had a daughter, Eileen, born in 1910. I find the couple living in Allegheny County PA on the 1910 census. Since Linda had remarried by 1919, I was under the assumption that Frank had died; however, I find that Frank filled out a WWI draft registration card in 1917/1918 naming his daughter Eileen as his closest relative. His address is different from that of his daughter's, leading me to wonder if there had been a divorce. And if so, where was Frank in 1920 and 1930 census listings if he had not died? I have searched the 1900, 1920, and 1930 census for almost all possible name combinations and spellings and come up empty each time. Someone who researches the FERRY family that has a three-year-old Frank on the 1880 Westmoreland Co PA census says that that Frank is alive through the 1930s and living in Virginia (posts are on the Genforum genealogy message board), but I haven't been able to find him to compare. Anyone have a FRANK ABRAHAM FERRY who worked for the PA Railroad who might fit the person I'm looking for? _________________________________________________________________ FREE pop-up blocking with the new MSN Toolbar – get it now! http://toolbar.msn.click-url.com/go/onm00200415ave/direct/01/

    3. I would love to have this Bible! Unfortunately the opening bid is steep. I need to check, but I believe the Sturtz family connects to my husband's family. At any rate, if it did not I am sure that it would connect to others in this area. The Freemans, Friedlines and Pyles are all families in this area. Even if I cannot have it, I will print out the description and give a copy to the Chestnut Ridge Historical Society. Thank you so much for posting the link! 1. Re: Radabaugh/Radebaugh/Rodabaugh/Rhodabaugh
    2. Fred H Held
    3. Tracy, There is a connection of the RIEGELL/REIGEL/RIEGLE/RIGGLE family of Becherbach, Pfalz, Bavaria to the RODABAUGH family, when Anna Appolonia Riegel married Henry RODABAUGH in Baerwieler on 16 Jan 1720. These families appear to have come to America together. The family book of the early RIEGELL families ("RIEGELL to RIGGLE", by Carl Riegel and James Reigle) has many RODABAUGH families. Carl and Jim's book shows additional RIGGLE-RODABAUGH marriages in America, which would indicate the families in America have been somewhat connected. Unfortunately, not many of the RIGGLE connected RODABAUGH families traced by Carl and Jim go into the early 1800s. It is known that some RIGGLES moved from Bucks Co, PA and went to Hempfield Twp, Westmoreland Co and some went on to Burrell Twp, Armstrong Co (mine). It is likely your RODABAUGHs did the same. BTW, another spelling shown by Carl and Jim for one branch is ROADBACH. You do know there are multiple entries in the LDS IGI Files and LDS Pedigree Resource Files at the FamilySearch website for those couples. The names and addresses of PRF researchers are also there. 2. For the family of Samuel Thomas Wilson and Susanna Poe McClanahan, I have had to rely on census records to put their family together. So any additions or corrections are most welcome! This family has been in the Elizabeth Township area since about 1790, when they moved from Lancaster County. Excerpts At residence of Mrs. Philip Neth in Rostraver Twp., November 4, 1919 2 p.m. Joe Markle brought me out here an hour ago and George Edward Neth, the oldest son, received me and called in his mother who said she was born in 1848 and was named for her father's sister Susannah Poe, but was Susan Jame. She says her grandfather, Doctor Mathew McClanahan came from Ireland and she produced an old medical dictionary printed in London in 1785, the author being G. Motherby M.D. The record in handwriting of Dr. Mathew McClanahan except the record of his death is as follows: I married in the 44th year of my age on the 21st day of November 1803. Eliza, daughter, born 25 July 1804 Matthew, son, born 2 January 1806 Susanna Poe, daughter, born 31 January 1809 Catarine, my wife, departed this life at one o'clock in the morning of the 29th day of July 1812, aged 44 years and 6 months. ( This is Catherine Potter) Matthew P. McClanahan, son, married Sarah Watson on the 22nd day of May 1834. Martha, my second wife departed this life 27th day of June 1836, 78 years. Doctor Matthew McClanahan departed this life on the 23rd day of April 1839, about half after three o'clock in the morning being 80 years of age. Mrs. Neth also produces her father, Matthew P. McClanahan's family Bible, printed in 1838 at Philadelphia, PA. Mr. Phillip Neth and Miss Susan Jane McClanahan married at the home of the bride's parents by the Reverend Matthew McKristy at West Newton, Westmoreland, PA on 23 February 1869. Eliza McClanahan, sister of M. P. McClanahan married Robert McMahon, brother of Judge Riddle's wife. Susanna Poe McClanahan married Samuel Wilson, a farmer and they lived on a farm near Elizabeth, Allegheny Co., PA. He died first. They raised Clara, Mrs. Neth's sister, as she was only about 8 years old when her mother died. Jane Hill had married Jeremiah Wilson, a brother of Samuel Wilson who married Susanna Poe McClanahan. An obituary notice which I did not get to read said Susanna Poe Wilson was 87 when she died. She survived her husband. She said the children did not now live on the farm, had gone West. I told them I would come back again to see the obituary notices and get such other information as they could. They asked me to come when Clara was there. In part 3 I will give a little on the families of Samuel Thomas Wilson who married Sarah Alice Irwin and John C. Wilson who married Annaretus Irwin. Debbie Callison
