I found this family in the 1930 census also- In New Kensington, 3rd Ward John A. is listed as the head of household, owned his own home (10,000), had a radio, age at first marriage 48, PA, MD, PA, cutter, window glass Myrtle O., wife, 45, age at first marriage 18, PA, PA, PA Dewalt, Leola M., daughter,19, first married at 18, PA, PA, PA Dewalt, Thomas W., son in law, 24, first married at 23, PA, PA, PA, Roll ?, Plate glass Norma G., granddaughter, 1/12, PA, PA, PA I know the age at first marriage for John does not seem right, but that is what it says. I found a marriage license for a Thomas W. Dewalt, but he must be a relative of the one who married Leola. It is license #1022, marriage 6/13/1887 between Thomas W. Dewalt and Elsie Austraw. Barbara, My GG grandfasther was Samuel S. Smith from Westmorland County. Born in Maryland in 1835, served in the Civil War with the PA infantry, was wounded at the Battle of the Wilderness, was invalided out, and in 1880 relocated to DeKalb Conty IL. Any of this sound familar? If so, please let me kow. I have been looking for other descendants of Samuel, and have much more to share. Looking for the parents of John RALSTON (1816-1883) and maiden name of his wife, Hadassah J. (1823-1875). The lived in Washington Twp., Westmoreland County and are buried in Poke Run Cemetery.
