    1. Families from Northampton to Westmoreland
    2. sherry kelley
    3. Hello List, The family of EBERHART (Eberhardt/Everhart etc) came from somewhere in the Palatine in 1727 on the ship Friendship of Bristol. I believe they may have settled in what was then Northampton, but later Lehigh County. At the time they came here they were members of the German Reformed Church. Michael and Joseph Eberhart donated land in 1762 to the Great Swamp German Reformed Church. The family later became Lutherans. Probably some time before 1790 they moved to Westmoreland County where they stayed until about 1823 when they moved to Mercer County and later still to Iowa. Most of the information I have about them comes from a book "History of the Eberharts in Germany and the United States". It was written in 1891 and of course I have no idea exactly how accurate it is. I would like to share any infomation with others. Some of the other surnames I'm interested in are: SNYDER, STATLER AND BERLIN. Sherry

    1. Re: [PAWESTMO-L] Families from Northampton Co. to Westmoreland Co., PA
    2. Greetings-- I'm also very interested in knowing more about the Northampton County migration, as I've dead-ended there with two patriarchs: 1. Peter Fox Born 1754 in Northampton County, married 1777 Northampton County, listed on June 1777 muster roll in Northampton County, d. 1820 in Hempfield. Also, his wife Anna Margaret and their four known children, Johannes Peter, Phillip, Catherine, and Anne Mary (birth locations unknown). 2. Christian and Catrina Gross and their 8 children, including my direct line ancestor Jesse Gross (born 1772 in Northampton) Many thanks, Sue Morris Wexford, PA HMWEBBER@aol.com wrote: Hi list, I'm interested in the families that migrated from Northampton Co., PA to Westmoreland Co., PA. Is anyone else doing research on a family that migrated before 1790? Has a book been written about these families? When (what year) did these families arrive in Westmoreland Co., PA & why? Did they come as a group? Where they all of the same religious or ethnic background? What are their surnames? Mine are MUFFLEY - YOCKEY - CHRIST. Did they all immigrate to Northampton Co. from the same area in Europe, then onto Westmoreland Co.? Where they all on the same ship coming from Europe? What do we know about these families? Is anyone interested in sharing info on their Northampton Co. to Westmoreland Co. families? Maybe, if we all got together on this subject & share our thoughts & ideas we might find more out about them! :D Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS)

    3. The Brinkers came from Monroe Co. around 1790 or so, along with the Weiss/Wise family . Also from Monroe was one Learn who settled in Bell Twp. The Yockeys & Muffleys were also in Monroe Co. too. The Nelich/Neligh family settled in Penn Twp., with Brinkers in Penn and Unity. There are many others, such as Barnharts in Hempfield twp., who came from near Allentown. I believe the Lauffers were also in Northampton/Lehigh before Westmoreland. This just scratches the surface! 3. Hello Ellen and List: I doubt if that John Milliron of Maryland is directly related to the Milliron family of Westmoreland. He could possibly be a nephew or distant cousin to the Westmoreland patriarch, Jakob, but we don't know anything about Jakob's relatives except for his brother Nicholas, who accompanied him to America. 3. Helen - I am very interested in the same question as you. A number of German Lutheran and Reformed families in Westmoreland seem to have come from Northampton in the same 10 or 20 year stretch 1780-1800 (might have been all at the same time, but I can't pin down when or if my own came from the same place.) I am looking most specifically at SHEFFLER / SCHEFFLER HEIL MECHLING / MACHLIN SCHLEIFF / SLIFE BECKER / BAECKER KAMP / CAMP / KEMP DRUMM / DROM These are off the top of my head; there are others, and I will collect them. My first point of interest is Moore Township. Hopefully others will latch onto this too. Thanks for bringing it up. 2. Mickey, Abijah is a biblical name and can be used for both a male and a female. It means follower of Yahweh. So this could be any nationality with a biblical tradition. Scharlotte appears to be Charlotte with an additional S. Where did you find these spellings? Could Charlotte have been misheard, an extra S sound as a German would add? Rosanne
