    1. RE: [PAWESTMO-L] Josiah Thomas George and family
    2. HI Ellis, I forgot to mention that I live in the Niagara County region of Western New York and am unable to travel to Pennsylvania. I do most of my work locally on my lines, but this lady's lines came out of Indiana and Westmoreland County. I have been doing most of the searching for her lines via the internet. Mary

    1. RE: [PAWESTMO-L] Josiah Thomas George and family
    2. HI Ellis, Josiah Thomas was in Westmoreland County in the 1850 census with his father, Peter in Washington Township. In 1860, 1870, 1880 and 1900 census he was listed with his wife, Rebecca and their children. He is always listed in Burrell township, Westmoreland County, PA. I am trying to help a lady get information on her family line. Her parents divorced before she was 10 and she has no idea who her ancestors were. Thanks, Mary

    3. Dear Mary, I looked at our cemetery transcriptions on the GenWeb Archives project, and we do not have much for Lower Burrell yet. Have you tried the Westmoreland County Historical Society in Greensburg? They have a descent cemetery reference section, if you can get there. What time period are you looking at? 1. Re: [PAWESTMO-L] History of Westmoreland County, Vol 2
    2. Hi, I know a long time ago, I was looking through the web and found a web site on the computer for this and another one for Westmoreland County that was written by a well-known historian, Dallas Albert. I believe that actual research book is called History of Westmoreland County. It has been ages since I used this reference. He had information on almost everybody who resided in Westmoreland County and it is excellent. I really have been looking for this web-site because it contains ton of information that I could use. It use to be that if you wanted to look at these two books you had to go to the library, but some organization put them on the web. If anyone knows the web-site addresses, would you please let me know. Some of these I used in my genealogical research and they may be of use to you. If any of these are listed on a web-site, or if you know how to get the information over the computer, please let me know. Also, if anyone out there has other excellent references to share, please let me know. I am always searching for relatives that resided in Latrobe, Greensburg and Wilmore. 1. Old and New Westmoreland-several volumes 2. The Latrobe Bulletin 3. Historic Latrobe-booklet prepared and sold by Latrobe Area Historical Society (This is an excellent source and would love to buy this booklet. It is only about 60 or 70 pages long.) 4. History of Allegheny County, PA 1889 (several volumes) 5.Old and New Westmoreland, several volumes-published by the New York Historical Society. 6. Annals of Southwestern PA (two or three volumes) 7. The Tribune (newspaper, July 19, 1899) I do not know if there is a web-site for this information. Again, if any of these are on the web or know how I can get use of these by my computer, let me know. Thanks. Mary Ellen

    1. History of Westmoreland County, Vol 2
    2. Hello list-- Could someone who has access to this book do a look-up for me? I need the text of the entries on "John C. Steiner" and the "Steiner Brothers." They are related to my Fox lines via their mother/grandmother respectively (Elizabeth Fox, Philip Fox, Peter Fox). If it is possible to scan or photocopy the pertinent entries, that would be sufficient and much appreciated. I've looked at the Westmoreland County History Project and the PA-Roots Data Boards, but these two entries haven't been transcribed yet...hence my request. I already have the entry Curtin Philip Steiner, another member of the family. Many thanks!
