    1. Westmoreland Examineer Newspapers Query
    2. Ellen
    3. I would like to know if anyone on here has ever worked with these newspapers, other than the few for the 1840's that they have in the library in Greensburg on microfilm? If so, can you tell me what the entire extent of the dates of them were & if you ordered them in on microfilm to the library etc. I do know they were published in the second half of the 1830's. Thanks, Ellen (ETHS) Visit my web site at: http://www.familytreetracer.com <http://www.familytreetracer.com/>

    1. Hovey Shoup
    2. Looking for information on Hovey Shoup. He lived in Clarion Co., 1880-1902. According to the 1880 Census he was 25 and According to the 1900 Census he was 48 when they where taken. So with that in mind he would of been born between 1851-1855. Spellings of the last name may also very... Shoup, Showp, Shop, Shoop. I would really like to find his parents and see if he had brothers and sisters. Also according to the 1900 census there was an Eliza living with him & his family. I am not sure if that is his mother or if it was his wife Anna's mother. Any information from 1850-1870 would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tricia

Thank you very much for doing this lookup for me. Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS)

    1. Coshey Inquiry
    2. Ellen
    3. If anyone on here as information on the Coshey family in regard to one who would have married a woman with the surname of Weaver I would like to know about it. I have info that states her name to be Linda but this may be a mistake. It's possible that it could be an Iva Rebecca Weaver or one of her other sisters. She would have been alive & married in 1907. Thank You, Ellen Visit my web site at: http://www.familytreetracer.com <http://www.familytreetracer.com/>

    2. c whiting
    3. (LaRue and my Mom were friends. This is from the memorial pamphlet given to everyone who was at her memorial on April 1st.) LaRue Eshbaugh Murphy Snyder LaRue Eshbaugh Murphy Snyder died peacefully and gracefully February 28, 2006 surrounded by loved ones at the home of her son in Houston, Texas after a short battle with lung cancer. She was 87. She was born August 30, 1918 at home in Vandergrift, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania to the late Walter Anthony ESHBAUGH, a patcher in a sheet iron mill, and Anna Tersey KNABB, a housewife. She was the fourth of six children. Edwin Roy, Grace Magdelena, William Knabb, and Ethel Leila predeceased her while Thomas Boyd survives. She had many cousins, nieces and nephews. She chose William Alexander MURPHY of New Brighton, PA as her mate and they were married the day after Christmas 1941 in Wellsburg, West Virginia. They settled in Ambridge where they lived on Maplewood Avenue until Bill's death May 27, 1978. All three children survive: William A. Murphy, Jr. and his wife Judy, Walter George Murphy and his wife Betty, and Elzanna LaRue Haskell and her husband Pete. LaRue's sister, Grace, had married Murch Ansley SNYDER, Jr. in 1939, and LaRue, Bill, Grace and Murch were fast friends. Grace died in April 1984. In June 1985, LaRue and Murch were married at her son's home in St. Louis, Missouri. They celebrated twenty years of wonderfully happy marriage in 2005. Murch survives LaRue. She was buried at Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell, PA. ***** There is alot more about LaRue's life, but I wanted to copy the pertinent info with the names in case anyone might be researching the Eshbaughs or the Murphys. I would be happy to scan and email the info to anyone who might want it for their research records. 1. Josiah Thomas George and family
    2. HI Ellis, Thank you for offering to help a complete stranger. Just as you are willing to help me, I am helping a friend of my sister try and trace her family which is listed below. Her parents divorced when she was real young and any one whom she could have asked are now all deceased. She was raised here in Western New York and never knew anything about her father's family (Lawrence H. George's son Harry). Here is what I know about the family. In 1850 census record, Josiah is living with parents (Peter and Deborah) in Washington Township, Westmoreland County. In 1860, 1870, 1880 and 1900, Josiah is living with his wife and children in Burrell Township, Westmoreland County. Can not find him or wife in 1910 census. Josiah's age in all census records is for year 1827 or 1828 respectively including 1850. Josiah Thomas George born March 1827 (per 1900 census) wife, Rebecca L born October 1834 (per 1900 census) daughter, Sarah E born 1854 son, John S born 1856 (missing by 1870 census, presume died) son, William T born 1858 (missing from 1880 census) daughter, Annie M born 1861 daughter, Mary E born 1864 daughter, Alice S born March 1866 (per 1900 census) daughter, Emma B born 1870 son, Lawrence H born April 7, 1875 (per World War I Draft Registration Card and Blairsville cemetery entry) son, David F born 1874 (per 1880 census, supposed to be 2 years younger than Lawrence) daughter, Martha A born 1877 Lawrence lived in Indiana County in the 1930 census with wife Mary and 5 sons. I know they are buried in the Blairsville Cemtery, Blairsville, PA. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again, Mary Flack 2280 Hartland Road Gasport, NY 14067

Catherine Rhodes c1762 and afterward moved to Westmoreland Co. and was killed 1777/8 in Rev. War. Some of the orphaned children (at least Isaac and maybe Jacob and John) were adopted by John McKibben who moved to Bourbon Co., Ky. c1786. Son, Abraham, was adopted by Oliver Heavenhill who moved to Jefferson/Nelson Co., Ky. by 1782. Can anyone tell me where any of these, i.e. Peter Miller, John McKibben or Oliver Heavenhill, were located in Lancaster or Westmoreland Cos.? Could this Peter Miller be the one on tax lists in Warrick Twp., Lancaster Co. in early 1770's? Son, Abraham born 1774, supposedly was born in Lancaster Co. Art Miller, Louisville
