    1. [PAWESTMO] Trying to unblock some road blocks...
    2. Richard McClelland Simpson, III
    3. Greetings, all... I have been banging my head on a few brick walls for years now, and decided to try once again to find out what kind of help I can get from the group that has helped so much in the past! First is George W. Simpson, born in 1826, in Westmoreland County. His wife was Mary Ann Algeier, that information I obtained from a web site that listed the weddings performed by Jonas Mechling. His father-in-law is another roadblock, but I don't have enough information about him yet to ask for help. George and Mary Ann had the following children: Eliza (1849), George W. (1855), Aaron (1856), Francis M. (1859-1937), Melissa (1865), John (1868), Samuel (1870), and Benjamin F. (1850). (All these dates are approximate, with the exception of my great-great-grandfather Francis Murian Simpson.) The next roadblock is one that may be occurring also to the webmaster at www.bakerblews.com. George Baker, born 1807, in Westmoreland County, and his wife, Esther Barbara Lemmon, born 1810. I am descended from their daughter, Martha Baker Black Gross, via the Black line. The last is a point of confusion, since there seems to have been two people with this name born about the same time: Cyrus Kuhns (born around 1852, I think). His son, Gust Elmer Kuhns, was my great-grandfather and grandfather (he and his wife adopted my mother and uncle when they were young). Gust's wife was Laura Mabel Baker. (I would die if I found out that Laura was related to Martha above! Gust and Laura were my mother's grandparents/parents. Martha is my father's great-great-grandmother.) Any help would be appreciated. Richard M. Simpson, III

    1. [PAWESTMO] Mary Margaret Hull Dean Bauman
    2. ~Pat~
    3. Thanks to everyone for straightening out all the names of the town. It gets confusing. I was actually fleshing out the descendents of Jacob and Mariah Grimm Hull. One of their daughters, Catherine, married a Whitaker/Whitaker (haven't been able to find his first name yet - James maybe since she named her first son that?). Her daughter, Mariah Jane 'Mina' Whitaker married Joseph Carrick and the person I am doing this for is one of their descendents. On the 1900 U S census, she reports being a widow, married 14 years, having had 4 children, 3 living which would have made her marriage date to Whitaker/Whittaker about 1885. Dawn, I don't find a Joseph Hull listed in Jacob and Mariah's descendents. 1900 census she reports having 11 with 7 living and in 1910 she reports having 5 with 5 living. Another mystery. I will be adding the marriage info on the Dean and Bauman marriages. Thank You very much. Here is what I have been able to accumulate so far from census and obits, plus info from Joyce Post.. Maybe it will help someone else. 3. Yes, you are right, it was originally called Crows Nest, then around 1914, changed to Bovard, in honor of Harry F Bovard who was president of the Keystone Coal and Coke Company. But the mine their was still called Crows Nest mine. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, August 13, 2008 8:56 PM Subject: [PAWESTMO] Crows Nest > In the 1937 obit for Walter Dean recently posted by Dawne, it mentions > Crows Nest in a few places. 3. I just realized that Mary Margaret Hull Dean Bauman was an aunt of a friend of mine. She was a sister of Joseph Hull of Hawkeye who died June 10, 1954. Margaret Bauman of Southwest is mentioned in Joseph's obituary. as being his sister. Joseph Hull was maried to Olive Kalp Hull. They were the parents of Anna Hull King, mother of my friend. Let me know if you would like Joseph's obituary. The Daily Courier, Sept 25, 1946 Licensed to wed-Aaron Bauman of Youngwood and Mary Dean of Mt. Pleasant RD1. Dawne

    2. In the 1937 obit for Walter Dean recently posted by Dawne, it mentions Crows Nest in a few places. My grandmother was born in Crows Nest abt 1911. I no longer live in PA, but from what I've gathered from afar it sounds like Crows Nest is now Bovard. Does anyone know if this is true? Was there a Catholic Church or cemetery in Crows Nest? Thank you, Mark
