HI Ann, When I found Robert and noted his aged and birth year, I had the same thought that Jefferson and Clara should be together somewhere in the 1880 census. Too bad they didn't have a column to mark that the female was obviously pregnant. I also had the thought that maybe the wrong first name was used for Jefferson in the obit. I found that happened with one of my mother's grandfathers. His father had the incorrect first name in the obit. It's possible that Jefferson and Clara were middle names and not the names used on any census report. Maybe they never married because he was married to someone else and they just had this long standing affair. Maybe her given name was Clara Sheldon Tyler and she never married anybody. That would mean her middle name was Sheldon and it wasn't her maiden name. Sure wish someone who has been tracking this family would chime in their two cents about now. Carol
