Co., 1892, pp 1203-1204 John CONKLIN, officer in the Rev War, after that was made Co. Judge. Man of wealth and influence in his community, owning large farms on the rich bottoms of the Susquehanna River. Father of five children who grew to adult age, of whom Benjamin was the eldest. Benjamin Conklin, b. Wayne Co. 27 Aug 1783. many years an inn keeper on Newburg Turnpike Rd, six mi west of Cochecton Sullivan Co, NY, prominent farmer in that region. He lost a portion of his property by going bondsman for a sheriff. md. Mercy COMFORT, of Orange Co, NY, had 15 children, 14 grew to adults, 12 went to IL. The first to go out to IL Eliza, , Mrs. William THOMAS. 1839 the mother and nine children, went to Winnebago Co IL, starting from PA 04 Jun and arriving in Rockford, IL 12 Jul. Benjamin, died about three years previously, (1836?) Henry W. b. Damascus, Wayne Co, PA, 24 Jun 1827, at once secured work to aid in the support of the familyreceived $12 a month for driving a breaking team.
