George D. Woodward was born 29 Apr. 1840 in Cherry Ridge, Wayne Co., PA, to Asher Woodward (1801 PA-1874 IL) and Matilda Kennedy (abt 1806 PA-1875 IL). The family moved to DeKalb County, Illinois, in about 1859. George fought in Co. H of the 10th Illinois Infantry. After the war he lived in Sandwich (DeKalb Co.), Marseilles (LaSalle Co.), and Moline (Rock Island Co.), IL, and several places in Missouri. He m. 1st Fannie Atwater (in 1867 in Marseilles, IL), who d. in 1887, and m. 2nd Annie (Brown) King (in 1892 in Port Jarvis, NY). He d. 9 Oct. 1897 in Moline, IL.
