I have purchased on EBay for donation to the Wayne County Historical Society a transcription of the membership list of the Maple Hill Baptist Church, which was located in Sherman, Scott Township. The source of the transcription is the DAR Cemetery, Church and Bible Records. Unfortunately, because the founding members of the church were all from Deposit, NY, the list was filed in the New York State series and would not turn up on a Wayne County search. Because Sherman and Deposit are so close geographically, I see many names common to one or both areas. The list gives the name, date the person joined the church and date of "dismissal" and in most cases reason for leaving (death, move or excommunication, etc.). The church was founded in 1851 and the latest date I find is 1895. Although the list is chronological not alphabetical, it is only four pages long, and if you think your ancestor may have been a member of this church, I can do a lookup in the next few days. Remember that Sherman was once known as New Baltimore and that Scott Township is in the extreme northern portion of Wayne County, so it's unlikely that anyone from Equinunk, Honesdale or points south would be represented. Ann, Would you please search this document for the surname Lamont? I would be most grateful. Hi Ann, Could I make a suggestion? Could you scan these pages and send them to the PAWAYNE web site? That way it would be available to all and we could do our own searches. Just a thought. Thanks!! Elaine Searching for Bartlow
Elaine, Here is a website my cousin sent me regarding the Bartlow family. I hope it helps. http://burklowfamily.com/bartlow/IndexVanB.html Faye Kizer Robbins "When a leaf falls from your family tree, it makes no sound as it flutters down, but you hear it with your heart :( Goodbye Ray-- 29 May 1967---7 November 2002---Faye 11/2002
